Citibank promo tnc mentioned abt 3k limit per transactions. Not sure if is soft limit
Thanks, just saw that. Funny that Samsung does not impose a limit (technically) but Citibank does, will try out and see how.
Used Samsung Pay twice on my weekend Osaka trip.
Once at a Drug Store and once at a Restaurant, no problems. The swipe machine was merged with their computer/sales terminal. They initially mentioned they don't have the card reader. I assured them it would be okay. When I 'scan' and their computer beeped, you can tell they were amazed! SUGOI!

Hmm, tried SPay virtual card number in a few places online, all got rejected.
SAM online does not recognize it as a local card number.
Starhub online payment system denied.
Looks like the MST might transmit something more than the card number etc and having the virtual card number leaked might not actually do any harm as no charges could be made. However, places I tried mostly only accept local credit cards only, so rejection might not be a big deal so far.

I'm considering buying a 2nd hand Samsung Pay phone. One concern I have is that whether the phone, being 2nd hand, would have its Samsung Pay function (especially the MST) somehow defective - maybe the magnetic field generator is spoilt somehow. Can this happen? Is there a way to check if the MST generator is functional before buying the phone, short of going to some shop with a credit card terminal to test?
SPAY can only be used on a S7 and above or S6 edge+ phones. Won't work on any other phones.
Given that these models are still relatively new, may make better sense for you to just renew contract if the option is available to u.

Works with S6, S7, note 5 and note 7.
Not all S6, S6 edge+ or later and Note 5 or later only.
Hi, so confirm can get 10x points for sp services using mst? Why 200+ only? The last time i was told max $500.
Aldo hor, i thot this promo is applicable to all done through samsung pay? Did i miss out anything?

Problem that that option is not available to me plus I'm not really a Samsung user. Am just getting the phone to use Samsung Pay with Citibank, hence a cheap second hand phone works better, so long as MST works. I'm not even really going to use the phone as a phone. Now my concern is after I buy the phone, and somehow the MST generator is faulty, then its a bad result.
just get it before is over end of the year. u getting a new phone and u getting miles. whats to dislike?
u can test out the 2nd hand phone function at the mobile shop if they let u. but if i were u, i get a new one with warranty.
my s7 did have problems within 1 month but they gave me a brand new motherboard and speaker. upz for their service

That's possible, but I'm trying to lower the cost as much as I can since I'm not really using the phone as a phone but just for
miles.
As for 2nd hand phone, I'm buying from an individual, so not sure how to get a shop to test for me
In relation to the discussions on which terminal can accept Samsung MST, can those with experience in this area let me know whether this type of terminal can work with Samsung MST? I have an upcoming big purchase at this vendor who is clueless about Samsung Pay and this forms the major reason why I'm considering buying a phone in the first place. It would be a sad day if this terminal does not work.
Strangely, the terminal looks exactly like the one I saw at the Samsung Shop in Paragon which has a test demo area for their Samsung pay function but alas, it was "spoilt". I'm not sure if this means that the vendor I'm going to use at would also be Samsung MST feasible since its the exact same model - even the "Ascan" sticker is the same.

I don't think I've tried on this type of terminal. However, only time the transaction cannot go through are the old type ones, some can, some cannot. Some cannot even put the number in, some just says denied or do not honor.
As much as I've tried to use Samsung Pay in the start, I'm now getting lazy. Only will insist on trying if the amount is greater than like $100, otherwise, just pay with normal credit card (if no paywave) and get over with it. That said, I was able to use Samsung Pay to charge >$100 over paywave at Toysrus at Vivo.
