Oh, it was not few years ago but last year. See samsung india referred the lines on display issue as bit missing. It is hardware problem. One or more of the the display flex cable signal contact pins not in contact resulting in the lines on display.

People were saying in an older thread, that this is a heat issue, want to update must <50% battery and not charging.

I tested this theory out on my company issued S20+, no lines after updating. But then my company issued S20+ has this small patch of green pixels peppered with brown pixels in the patch, such that it looks like got mold growing under the screen glass.

Heard about the heat issue too, not sure if that's the cause as some phones from other brands also got this green line issue.

My habit is to ensure more than 40% battery before updating phone and in a cool environment if possible. Maybe this helps to avoid..
