This is new news to me. Usually we clear the outstanding minus annual fee as it is for next year. CS ask you to pay everything wow!

Call them up again, the CS seems confused. Usually they would deduct the fee and cancel it after the outstanding amount is paid.

I wonder if they decided to cancel it completely, it’s been months since their announcement.
From the URL it mention card replacement nothing about terminating it entirely. Even if they terminate entirely I already found replacement in DCS mastercard which is way better same month deduct rebate. Only the foreign spending 3% no replacement but I seldom do foreign spending (and if spend is usually MYR) so ok.

Don't think they will cancel it completely. I was still being charged the annual fee. Zzz.

Read HWZ Forum Rules!
They may not cancel it but they can change the TnC instead. Maybe reduce 2% to lower or higher etc whatever. The ball is in their court they call the shots. I would suggest you quickly look for other card replacement in the transition period. You don't wanna be held ransom by this card isn't it?

Confirm no, In fact, even with the higher cashback for foreign transactions, net net you still lose out to using a plain straight forward card like youtrip or revolut. I actually tried for the fun of it.

i tried using my uob one and youtrip on taobao before.

the difference is really like a few cents for a $50 item.

that's why i thought they are almost the same now.

say spree's SCB and UOB, do they use visa currency converter for the fx?

Different banks got different layers of fees, so its not just currency conversion rate. This one u have to check with the various banks.

I like youtrip for their range of merchants tie-ups like 5% cashback for iherb over Black Friday.

oh is it? i didnt know that.

my last big order was during the 27% anniversary.

will take note of the 5% cashback next time.

thanks.

You have to click to access the merchant thru the youtrip app. They have quite a good range of typically used merchants like iherb, agoda etc.

Screenshot-20231223-002857-jp-hazuki-yuzubrowser.jpg

the above is mcc rate with 0% processing fee, which i assume youtrip will be using. correct me if I'm wrong.

Screenshot-20231223-002832-com-taobao-taobao.jpg

and the above is the rate directly converted by taobao, charged to my spree card.

the fx rate by taobao is 5.322, while the mcc fx rate is 5.35, a difference of 0.56%

so if it's a online local currency shopping, I'm entitled to 2% Cashback from spree, which come up to $35.

can someone confirm this with me? or the $50 service fee by taobao can be saved further? i know paylah will have 1.5% service fee, but not as good as
