the above is mcc rate with 0% processing fee, which i assume youtrip will be using. correct me if I'm wrong.

Screenshot-20231223-002832-com-taobao-taobao.jpg

and the above is the rate directly converted by taobao, charged to my spree card.

the difference is only $10 for a $1740 transaction, which is approximately 0.6%.

so if it's a online local currency shopping, I'm entitled to 2% Cashback from spree, which come up to $35.

can someone confirm this with me? or the $50 service fee by taobao can be further?
Your initial post asked about foreign currency spend. SCB card will never be better than Youtrip because it charges 3.5%.

now you’re comparing with charging spree card with TB rate which is charged in SGD. so yes you will get 2% but you won’t get $35 because cashback is capped at $30 per statement month

I think taobao provide option to pay in USD or SGD? For me I choose USD and use FSM debit card as Dec 2023 got promo 5% cashback and the rate they give is better than the taobao website shown.

Paywave is a just a way to pay. Dosen't change the MCC that you are paying for / to.
Contact SCB and ask why you not getting the 2%, unless you are willing to post all your transactions for us to see and maybe hope someone help you calculate and explain why you not getting the 2% cashback.

Is CardUp and ipaymy transaction only can get 1% cashback instead of 2% (online SGD category) cashback if pay with Spree card? Anyone successful to get the 2% cashback?

Another zombie card like Manhattan now.
This was a good card for people like me who cannot fullfill minimum spend, yet get decent 2% cash back fuss free. Now 1.5% cashback from Simply Cash is their main cashback card.

It makes sense from SCB perspective, because now most merchants are either online or tap, so almost all transactions get 2%, so the Simply cash card was getting canibalized, other than the cashback cap vs no cap.

Can consider DCS Ultimate MC for 2% or HSBC Advance + EGA account for 2.5%.

They stopped accepting applications when their partnership with SingPost ended and they had to change their design. Think they couldn't decide what to do with it after.
Should tie up with Shopee Express or something since it's logistics related 🤣
