hi, from my own experience, if u genuinely did an online transaction (not internet banking bill payment), then SCB is very likely to grant you the 7% rebate, even if they dont recognise it the first time around, they would credit it back if you call to dispute.
if u get the SMS 3-D authorisation via SCB when making the transaction, then you probably would have a strong case to justify to them that it is online.
do not that online supermarkets (eg Redmart, NTUC etc) is considered Groceries & only 2% rebate applies

Hi, thanks for the explanation. I am using it to book for exam online, or can i call them in advance to check first before i make the payment using the card?
I think they probably wouldnt know themselves prior to the transaction but no harm asking.
Which institution is it, maybe others had similar experience ?
I did get 7% rebate for a payment of a professional membership before.
You mean they don even know?
It is pearson vue, for booking exam.
question for the gurus here, since foreign currency transactions are liable for 3.5% surcharge (1% from Visa/Master, and 2.5% from SCB)...
example if transaction is USD580, it will translate into $580 x 1.42 (forex) x 1.035 (3.5%) = $852.426
if using Paypal rate it's quoted at $853.26, meaning there's not much difference between using the paypal conversion vs bank conversion?
Unless the bank charge is 2% or less then bank conversion rate will be more favorable![]()
Is this the best card to use at apple store to buy MBP?
SCB max rebate is $50, might as well use BOC Shop! card which is capped at $100...
but if I were to sign up Singpost card, $60 rebate + $50 (SG50 promo) is $110.

how abt buying from duty free?
no 7% gst![]()

give up on this card. SG50 not eligible for online sign-ups.
They gave vpost vouchers instead which are useless.
