After getting in touch with the CSOs, we were told that we need to spend $5000 in order to get the waiver but we already spent almost $10k. The CSO calculated and indeed we spent more than $5k and proceeded with the waiver. However, received the reply in the ibanking on the first day enquiring if the information for $5000 spent for card waiver is true. And the reply was that it is up to the bank and out of 'goodwill', they have waived it off for this year.

So which story is true? They waived off because we spent the min $5000 or because of goodwill? Anyone has their side of story to share? I don't want to go through this same rubbish again next year coz it's my hb's card and he hates calling in.

unless someone work in sc and reveal internal policy.

even so, even hotline can tell u story A B C, benchmark is what they say only, unless u saw it on their website.

if cso not verse, can tell you other story and reject you outright, in that sense, what can you do?

in summary, every year just ask for waiver and see what situation your placed into and follow up from there. which mean same problem might reoccur.
if u really spend enough, by right system will auto waiver from ur bill. if not mean manual already.

Wow then I'll have to remember not to spend anything after my dec statement date. I actually thought the annual fees is charged before Dec and didn't see it so I proceed to spend.

We did the automated system to request for waiver and it was not approved. So troublesome but their card is so good that we had to take the trouble. If OCBC can just cancel. No need to bother so much.

I don't see why you can't spend after the Dec statement. Rebate earned will be used to offset your card spending. You can make payment for the spending first before calling to ask for annual fee waiver.

My starhub payment dun count for the ang bao. Since the qualified transaction definition to make up the $688 min spending for dining and the ang bao is the same, I will guess telecom bill payment not counted, ie according to tnc "bill payment" not counted
