even before our green rebate grant, BYD priced M6 at SGD220k. take away the paper, it is at SGD120k which is RMB660k (which I dont understand why they have the courage to set that price level). The didi drivers in china probably paid only RMB100k which is probably around SGD18k.
The maths is pretty straight forward. Anything that comes to our shores will auto mark up multiple times cause Sgreans can pay.
Mark-up? Those are the business profits for taking risk mah. If so profitable why don't you go and setup a shop to sell BYD also? BYD has already appointed a few (not one) dealers in Singapore, so BYD is Ok to have a few dealers (not let one and only dominate).
By the way, OMV of a BYD M6 is S$29,800, and total basic costs (after ARF and GST/Excise Duty and after adding COE) is already S$140,430 !!!
You can compare that to a Mercedes GLA180 where OMV is S$38,152 and total basic costs =S$196,768.
But seriously, Mercedes GLA180 is a thin can powerless car with 1.3L engine that will have problem climbing Genting Highlands' slopes!
