I'm not really a big fan of shanghainese food honestly. My friend brought me to 蘇浙匯 the last time I went to SH but don't find anything really special about the cuisine :p

Same here, I visited the very established 老正兴菜馆 on Fuzhou Road twice. I guess Shanghainese food is not to my taste.

hi guys
What is the weather like now at Sh? Is it still cold?
Will be going end of the week
Is double-layer windbreak + long-sleeved shirt underneath still not sufficient for the weather now?

Btw, do they sell 3-4 days 3G sim card like in TPE airport??

新世界 at nanjing west road ;)
have a good day today!

Yea my hotel is just opposite :o

Managed to see the historic Cathay Building today. Reminds me of the old Cathay Building @ City Hall before it was demolished.

went there to chill out for many nights. talk to the waitress about life, career, upcoming plans. since got no one to talk to.

u can go over if u want. soft music, nice ambience, plus a nice view at night.

Haha I'll probably pass on that. Had breakfast there once so good enough for me, unless I stay at the Park Hyatt again :D

Yea its pretty cheap now. :D

If you do come, stay at the Waldorf Astoria. Pretty nice and you can see the bund if you get a river facing view! But of course if you want the best views, go for Park Hyatt :D

May I recommend you try 小杨生煎 and 佳家汤包? If you like Chinese style fast food, can try 东方既白 as well :o

There's also 翠华餐厅, cafe de coral and 許留山 from HK in Shanghai as well :o

Now got bird flu outbreak, is it still safe to go SH?

That's a pretty difficult question to answer actually. Maybe you should monitor the developments for the next couple of days before coming to a conclusion? When I was there, there were 2 cases reported on TV. Seems like the numbers are going up.

My friend transit Singapore from Australia as he want to go home to Shanghai. With these news, his mother said this can be wide spread and advised him to stay away. So he is stuck here. I also scrap my plan for Shanghai Auto Show.

So best to avoid unless you have no choice. Make sure you have travel insurance and best to cover quarantine back here.

Remember last time, few people being quarantined, they have to pay for the cost.

Following from Ministry of Health

MOH's advice

7. The WHO does not advise against travel to China at this point in time, as there is no evidence of human-to-human transmission of the virus. However, returning travellers from affected areas in China (Shanghai, Anhui, Jiangsu and Zhejiang) should look out for signs and symptoms of respiratory illness, such as fever and cough, and seek early medical attention if they are ill with such symptoms. Individuals should also inform their doctors of their travel history, should they develop these symptoms after returning to Singapore.

8. Travellers to affected areas in China should continue to remain vigilant and observe measures recommended by the local health authorities, including:

- Avoid direct contact with poultry, birds or their droppings, and if contact is made, wash hands thoroughly with soap and
water;
- Cook poultry and eggs thoroughly before eating;
- Wash hands frequently with soap and water (e.g. before handling food or eating, after going to toilet, or when hands
are dirtied by respiratory secretion after coughing or sneezing);
- Avoid crowded places and contact with sick people with fever; and
- Wear a mask when you have respiratory symptoms or are feeling unwell.

9. MOH will update the public immediately, should there be any new developments. More information on influenza A (H7N9) is available at MOH’s website (www.moh.gov.sg), or call our hotline at 1800-2254122.
