Why u hoot so many?
Bravo need more than 4L per oil change?

Cos promo price mah, so stock up first loh. Bravo is abt 3L per change, so still will have abt 1L remaining. 1 bottle for my wife's SSS, 1 for my next service, and 1 for my dad's car.

The question about "good bargain" are, what's the actual quality as descripted on the label? without actual testing like API or ACEA, the quality is as good as base on trust according to the company marketing department.

engine oil got some difference as does petrol (same grade but different company)

Performance wise we all cannot tell, but noise wise there is a noticeable difference. I changed twice is the last 2 months and can definately tell the differance. First is come EO from Autobac and second is from AD ('forced' to do servicing to keep warranty and also to change faulty steering rack). Auotbac some Jap EO and AD dont know which EO. The sound after the EO change for the 2 EO is definitely different.

Performance can measure FE, idle RPM, acceleration if plug in OBD scanner but there are many other factors involved.

Same for tyres, we dont do a proper braking distance test, all is on 'feel'..but sound we can measure easily with our smart phones (dont need accurate, just relative comparison)

for many people, sound is very important and it can be very irritating.

having said that, which EO is the most quiet? for petrol so far Caltex 98 is the quietest for my car (Shell is the worst, super loud)

petrol also affect noise? first time hearing it. suppose u do a blind test, get someone else to pump the petrol for u without u knowing what went it.

Maybe newer cars can't tell much difference. I tried pumping shell98 into my old '89 e30, in the last $1/L Shell promo some years back. Usually only pump 92 since it requires 89.

Old car, old engine, naturally engine noisier. Moment drove out of station and onto the expressway, suddenly felt quite a difference. Engine is significantly less noisier. Performance-wise no noticeable difference.

So i do believe to a certain extent that higher ron will result in less noisy engine.

1. my wife whom have no idea what petrol brands there are out there can point out the difference
2. All the while in my mind, Shell was the best petrol out there and have been pumping Shell for the last 5 years. Even SPC (in my mind the 'worst' petrol) also quieter than Shell.

would not probably be able to tell which petrol but if you ask me to do a blind comparison between 2 petrol, and the 2 petrol is Shell and Caltex, i can tell you which one is Shell.

Its funny and i dont know why got difference. I just know got difference. This is only for my G10 Altis which i just recently took over (3 months ago). Why i suddenly pump Caltex? cause my wife wanted to buy something from the store and i nothing to do. No discount card or CC rebate (unlike Shell).

sometimes i rather pay more for reputable engine oil. You wouldn't know if the cheaper oil can stand high rev for long.

My next oil change should be selena or hks super response.
