Kaixin, on your post yesterday, you made a few valid points:

1) one needs to have a certain leave of Pedigree to continue a career in law after law school. It is a different challenge totally altogether.

2) the law syllabus from a U.K. University is more well rounded than a Singapore one. You get to study the subject on purpose and reason of law (Ronald Dworkins etc) called Jurisprudence which is a compulsory subject whilst this is optional in a local university. This is just one example.

Clearly you have touched on points which I did not make or state. Nowhere in any of my previous posts did I mention about postgraduate law degrees. I have only referred to the basic LLB degree. Your post tells me a few things about you which I will address in my last paragraph of this post.

Then is anything you say even relevant? This is a post-grad sub-section. The title of the thread is SIM JD, which is a post-degree qualification.

I think those applying for this course would have weighed the pros and cons, and would be prepared, in their own ways, for the necessary sacrifices.

Back to the topic, my interview was quite similar to lunarsong's, had a brief discussion with the panel about the state of the judiciary system as well, slightly unexpected and I faltered a little. Good luck to all interviewing! :s12:

I'm curious. What is your background? Do you have any legal knowledge or done any law courses before? what do you know about the state of the judiciary system in Singapore?

Kaixin18, I am curious to know the motivation behind your slew of questions on the background and knowledge of this gentleman.

Jurisprudence is a compulsory first year module at NUS Law, called Introduction to Legal Theory. There are also advanced jurisprudence modules as electives. The variety of law modules offered at NUS is very wide, definitely more so than SMU or UOL at ITC. I'm not sure how many more law modules NUS has to offer to make it well rounded. :s22:

Hi Humedo! Same boat as you! Faltered quite a bit during the questions on the judiciary system... Any news yet? :)

my friend went for the interview on 2nd August 2016. the interviewee list was on the table. i.e one A4 page.

so given there are a few timeslots ... 3 interview rooms, He estimate about 30 pax per day? and there are only a few interview dates that had come. 2nd Aug ... 11th Aug ... 18th Aug ... my guess is those that are invited for interview will have a chance at enrolment ?
