After NLT there is no internet. Emailed them and told them I have finished NLT but still no Internet and the template reply was wait for 18 Aug for the technician to activate NLT.

Really worse start. Cannot imagine when a real issue happens. Simba totally don't understand English.

Suppose Simba's support team not really up to speed or they don't bother to have because offering cheapest price.

So better subscribe 1 month before your current contract expires or wait till your Simba connection ready then cancel current subscription. Else can only depend on mobile hotspot speed if anything goes wrong...

Sup guys, wanna check simba any issue when connecting to CCTV?

Most of the modern ones should work. You may check with your CCTV vendor to see if they work under CGNAT.

If the CCTV solution still needs port forwarding, then it will not work.

But I guess no point to subscribe to SIMBA for mission critical use cases like a CCTV, since we still need more reports to see if SIMBA is stable or not. And from the previous two posts the support is not that good when there is an issue.

keep both lines loh. I think it's worth trying if you're looking for a secondary backup line, but i already sub VQ liao for the SFP+ ONT.

Indeed SIMBA 2.5Gbps/10Gbps plan are good options if one wants to have a secondary line -- it can even be the main line, but need a solid backup, for example, M1 500Mbps/1Gbps or 2.5Gbps plan.

@Mach3.2
Just curious if you plan to upgrade your M1 1Gbps plan to 2.5Gbps plan later. Or your contract with M1 1Gbps still takes time to finish?

@hwzlite
Wanted to follow @Mach3.2's step to sign up secondary line? You can try SIMBA. :LOL:

NLT activation is on the backend, no one will come over to your place and no update from them also it / when the thing is done.

Just plug the ONT few hours later see if it works..

It depends on the household.

It seems to me for old flats NLT needs to come into the flat and check the signal strength. Newer ones seem to be okay -- no need to be in the flat.

FYI, I just installed my Singtel 5Gbps service this Monday and NLT appointment was on 5 August 2024. NLT people happened to be nearby on 4 August 2024 so they did the check that day. One guy came into my flat to put a light source (or things like that, I did not check in details). Then he went out to carry out the measuement and later came back to show me the signal was good. I needed to sign the form for him to finish his work order.

This was the same process as back in Feb 2012 when I upgraded from Starhub 16Mbps Cable online to Singtel 100Mbps Fibre.

My flat is an old HDB 4-room flat built in 1998.

my flat is about 23 yrs old. Luckily the netlink technician came to my place and open up the termination point and check the fibre cable. He notice the 2nd fibre cable is damaged and went on to help me fix it using a special device. He also ensure the 2nd port is running at desired speed before confirming the activation.

Not touching my M1 line. Anyway it's currently not on contact and I'm not entirely convinced I need more than 1Gbps.

Mine wasn't an old flat. NLT did some connection outside the house and came in to test the 2nd TP port using a red laser and optical power meter. Got about -20dBm on the meter.

Looks like an advanced user already.
It seems to be high risk to go with SIMBA 10Gbps service if you plan to use single ISP only. If you keep your existing ISP line, no problem, just go ahead.

Thanks xiaofan for your inputs.

Not an advanced user, Just plug and play type.

Plan to get only 1 isp.
Been with singtel for 10+ years using ont but no longer plan to stay with them.

So no issues with aqara and eufy ip cameras yeah?
No issue with smart home devices as well Yeah? Including eero max router as it is a smart home matter hub.

Usually if the IP Cameras use web proxy then no issues. If they need to use port forwarding (usually old types) then there will be issues.

For your use cases, the other main concern is the stability. No proven stability from SIMBA and the reports here show the support is not good when there are issues.

I actually think M1 1Gbps or 2.5Gbps plan is a better fit for you than SIMBA 10Gbps, if you decide to leave Singtel.

BTW, feedbacks of the eero 7 max is not that great either.
