Maybe the day itself if got problem then they fix remotely or come down to your house to fix.

So they can shake leg if no one call them.
ya, so they can charge me additional fees for 2nd appointment. luckily no issue for when i tested

I think your limiting factor now is your router being handicapped by the WAN Gigabit.
Until you switch it out to a 2.5Gb or 10Gb capable router, it will stay at around Gigabit (when you are using the ethernet cable hooked up to your laptop.
Make sure your router & the expensive adapter is 10Gb capable if you're looking to shred that speed with the allocated bandwidth.

WiFi test on the other hand, I recommend getting a router that is WiFi 7 and with a minimum 2.5Gbps WAN port capable if you want to utilize the bandwidth you got. The TP-Link Archer's BE series seems to tick those boxes with its I/O.

I can't find any other USB-C 10Gbps Adapter other than the OWC Thunderbolt 10G Ethernet Adapter, so hopefully that adapter you got is actually Gigabit at minimum.

Hey! Thanks for replying!
I have not thrown the static IPv4 yet onto our plan (it's my parents lol) as my NAS plan is still WIP and I'm commissioning it only next month.

So summarizing, I cannot get a static IP from SIMBA yet (because CGNAT and no IPv4 availability) which means I am not going to be able to remotely access my server from the rolling IP address and combining with Tailscale VPN etc.

I definitely am a fan for the cheap-ness for that bandwidth, but I'll hold out until they allow static IPv4- then I'll probably get this plan for myself to enjoy. 🤣🤣

Sadly MyRepublic also released this 3Gbps plan just 2 months after my family signed the re-contract and we cannot upgrade to enjoy this new speed for literally +$1.00, and pleading with the clueless foreign web support agent didn't get me / anyone else (from reddit threads) anywhere which absolutely sucks.

Looks like I'm gonna stick with ye' ol' 1 Gigabit for another 22 more months, or observe and YOLO my chances with SIMBA. 🤣

p.s. SIMBA currently only services 2.5Gbps to my area. 10Gbps only in certain areas.
Pulled from SIMBA FAQ -
"SIMBA 10Gbps Broadband is available to select residential addresses in:
East: Bedok, Eastwood, Eunos, Geylang, Macpherson, Joo Chiat, Katong, Kew Drive, and Upper East Coast
North: Admiralty, Sembawang, Woodlands and Yishun
North-East: Ang Mo Kio, Hougang, Punggol, Seletar, Sengkang and Serangoon Gardens
North-West: Bukit Panjang and Choa Chu Kang
"
In case anyone is still looking for a decent 10gbe USB-C(i believe must be USB4 at least for Thunderbolt 3 compatibility)/Thunderbolt adaptor without breaking the bank!

Go for the AQC113 chipset if possible. Some folks are reporting instability with the AQC107 chipset.

Approx CN698 to CNY770 ($120-$140) only.

Reviews here too: https://www.michaelstinkerings.org/iocrest-thunderbolt-10g-nic-review/

You're welcome!

after i chose my 3 slots, I got an email confirmation of a firm slot given for the NLT appointment which is today morning. Self-installation, NLT appt only activate and test the port is working, I plugged the ONT into the fibre port myself and to my router and it works immediately after my NLT appt. Although the guy told me need to wait one day (suspect he don't want me to test with him around)

Guess my case a bit different- they mentioned I dont have to be at home for the NLT activation, will be done remotely/externally without needing to be at home. Did you receive any email/contract after activation?

I signed up Simba 10gbps plan on 29 July, schedule the NLT appointment date on 6 Aug and the contract starting date was 7 Aug. I terminated and ended my existing bb contract on the 12 Aug. Everything went smoothly.
Hello, was yours also onsite NLT activation or remote? Did you receive email/contract right after activation?

Is it written anywhere that you don't have to be at home for the NLT appointment?

https://support.simba.sg/hc/en-us/a...it-required-on-the-NLT-Service-Activation-day
I enquired via the feedback form and their CS replied I dont need to be at home. the link you just provided also stated you may or may not need to be at home also but be home to be safe. You can scroll through previous replies that some are remotely activated, some got technician go down check. My case is I dont know mine is AM or PM so a bit frustrated lol.

My NLT appointment time is stated in the same e-mail for ONT collection.

Nope, only after i filed a ticket to the support then they replied that my FTP was activated. I read that some manage to connect successfully the router on the NLT appointment day itself. If you have opted for self installation, no harm trying that out.

Experience time!

Today, 23rd August 2024
12:55AM - Placed order for SIMBA Broadband & Scheduled for NLT Appointment on 2nd Sept
8.15AM - ONT Device Ready for collection (wtf so fast)

Just collected my ONT device during lunch time and now just waiting for the NLT appointment.
I'm also waiting on my 2.5Gbps NIC to arrive from China along with a unmanned network switch and a RJ45 2.5Gb dongle, should be arriving in time before this appointment.

Edit 1: 23/08/24 - 3.40pm
SIMBA just sent an email to shift earlier date (29 August) and say it's "delayed".
Anyway it works for me so I'm a happy man. 😂
