really that good ah my m1 500mbps getting lagging tis few years
Yep same here getting more lagging all these years. I've tested it all the stuff that I have been using with m1 and it is much better.

Maybe the area has a lot of m1 users plus the downtime over the years doesn't help. At least for now Simba might not have much users so it's not so congested.

It's 1 year contract so hopefully by next year December there will be a price war between the providers.

I think the price war already started in two fronts.

1) Low price plans -- below S$25 for no frills plan -- SIMBA 2.5Gbps plan at S$20 and Whizcomms "aggregated" 2.5Gbps plan at S$21.60.

2) High price plans expecially 10Gbps plan with routers -- suddenly all below S$70 now. If you take out the free router cost, the monthly cost is actually cheaper than the current 2Gbps plan pricing.

a) Singtel 10Gbps Enhanced Plan with free TP-Link HB810 BE22000 WiFi 7 Router at $69.72/mth for new users (recontract users at S$84.72)
https://www.singtel.com/personal/products-services/broadband/eform/10gbps

b) Starhub UltraSpeed Fibre Broadband only at S$69.30 per month, with Nokia all-in-one ONR.
https://www.starhub.com/personal/broadband.html

Starhub also has an bundle with superb value if you need those contents: HomeHub+ UltraSpeed at S$87.96

c) MR HyperSpeed plan with free TP-Link Archer AXE300 at S$59.99 per month. The gamer plan is at S$64.99 per month with the same free TP-Link Archer AXE300. [Edit: need to top up S$150 for the AXE300 router].

3) In year 2024, I believe 1Gbps plans will drop price and become the base plan (S$20 to S$30) like the current 500Mbps plans.

2.5Gbps plan will be the main stream like the current 1Gbps plan (S$20 to S$40).

Dual 1Gbps plan will probably become a niche or totally gone.

10Gbps plan will remain at the high end for many years but the pricing may further go down to S$40 to S$50 (say no free wireless router, or with basic wireless router).

I was a bit confused when someone shared a few weeks back about some free $150 with MyRepublic 10Gig plan.

Right now if you run through the sign up page, you'll see the router is not free and you're being forced to pay $150 for it. now i see where the free $150 was at :s13:

In the case of SIMBA 2.5Gbps plan, the first thing is to get a router with dual or more 2.5Gbps ports. Then you can consider adding an optional 2.5G switch to have more wired 2.5G connection.

If using a router with single 2.5G port, that port will connect to the SIMBA ONT as the WAN port, then you do not have another 2.5G port (LAN port) for 2.5G wired connection. Adding an unmanaged 2.5G switch will not help in this case.
Has anyone connected this way with asus rog ax11000 pro meaning 2.5G from ONT into the 10G Wan port and 2.5G wired out to a 2.5G switch?

I would have hoped that simba would have at least increase their coverage area to half of Singapore by the first half next year and would have a gauge of how their network would fare. Once the contract is up then users like me who signed up very early on in the beginning can decide if it's ok to continue or switch.

One major gripe i find is that for any support that is needed, you would have to email them. No phone number to call if you need any help. This is the same for their mobile line side but mobile users have several service centers to go to or drop a line on their facebook. You can do the same but i doubt the service centers able to handle the issues unless you go to their main office at kaki bukit.

I did email them twice regarding issues like installation and ont charges. The first one they replied the next day and the second within 3 days. Imagine if you faced technical issues that time frame is a bit of a stretch but then again you are paying $20/month.

ISP/ BB server / Download Mbps / Upload Mbps
M1 / US West / 293 / 27
M1 / US East / 109 / 21
M1 / EU Central / 134 / 38

Didn't know this was a thing, and to think I almost subscribed to B2 awhile back.. The upload speed doesn't seem ideal at all. :spin:

I actually ran several back to back tests for each server and the upload speed seem to get slower as I run more tests :s13:

Edit: The spped actually varies greatly, I ran another one for US West and the upload went up again.

M1 / US West / 91 /103

Same observation on the variation of the speed.
Singtel / US West speed seems more consistent.

Around 30 Mbps upload can estimate to backup about 300 Gb per day thus 1 TB about 3.5 days. :ROFLMAO:

Thanks ! Starhub seems to have good connectivity to EU.
i don't know why, but the speed test results can be inconsistent. so please take note!

for example, the US West upload speed i can get around 25Mbit/s ? (latest test)
previously, i wrote it as "StarHub / US West / 410 Mbit/s, 7.42 Mbit/s"...

Using wireless (Windows 11 Acer Laptop, Intel AX201 wireless adapter), Singtel 1Gbps plan, ZTE ONT, RT-AX86U router.

No problems with upload speed.

Singtel / US West / 137.20 / 139.74, 264.10ms ping, 27.49ms jitter.
Singtel / US East / 85.29 / 102.41, 234.20ms ping, 22.23ms jitter
Singtel / EU Central / 75.66 / 94.60, 252.70ms ping, 45.19ms jitter

I tried a few times (7:10pm to 7:20pm, 31-Dec-2023) and the results are similar, no issues with upload speed.
