I will need to get a Wireless router that has 2 x 2.5Gbps port correct?

Which TP-Link wireless router has 2 x 2.5Gbps port?

Since you seem to like Xiaomi, I will recommend Xiaomi BE7000 which has quad 2.5G ports.

Xiaomi 6500 Pro (quad 2.5G ports, good for 2.5G plans): RMB699
Xiaomi BE7000 (quad 2.5G ports, good match for 2.5G plans): RMB799
TP-Link TL-7DR6560 BE6500 (quad 2.5G ports, good match for 2.5G plans), listed price RMB 729, initial batch maybe lower

Reference: cheap WiFi 7 routers (China version, no support of 6GHz band)

Most of them have only single 2.5G port. If we do not consider higher end ones with 10G ports, then the only option seems to be only Archer BE550 WiFi 7 router with 5 x 2.5G ports.

For local versions with local warranty, I will recommend Asus instead, with dual 2.5G ports.
Asus GT-AX6000
Asus TUF-AX6000

If no need local warranty, then the China version of TUF-AX6000 is called TX-AX6000 and it is of very good value. But then Xiaomi BE7000 is of even better value with quad 2.5G ports and faster CPU.

Any other recommendations on the mesh routers? Or should we use normal router with cheap & reliable extenders?

Can try ASUS ZenWiFi Pro XT12 (WiFi 6) or ET12 (WiFi 6e)

Each has 1x WAN(2.5G) and 1x WAN/LAN(2.5G) ports

It all depends on your budget.

Main router -- at least two x 2.5G ports
Mesh node -- single 2.5G WAN port is okay to use 2.5G Ethernet Backhaul. If not, can use cheaper mesh node without 2.5G port.

1) Asus AImesh
Asus ZenWiFI Pro XT12 x 2, or XT12 + XT8 (2.5G Ethernet backhaul possible)
Asus ZenWiFI Pro ET12 x 2, or ET12 + ET8 (2.5G Ethernet backhaul possible)
GT-AX6000 x 2, or GT-AX6000 + TUF-AX4200 (2.5G Ethernet backhaul possible)
TUF-AX6000 x2 or TUF-AX6000 + TUF-AX4200 (2.5G Ethernet backhaul possible)
TUF-AX6000 + ZenWiFI XT8 (2.5G Ethernet backhaul possible)
China version: TX-6000 x 2 (2.5G Ethernet backhaul possible) -- Low cost option

2) Xiaomi Mesh (China version)
Xiaomi BE7000 x 2 (2.5G Ethernet backhaul possible) -- Low cost option
Xiaomi 6500 Pro x 2 (2.5G Ethernet backhaul possible) -- Low cost option, but not as good as BE7000

3) TP-Link Mesh
TP-Link Deco BE65 WiFi 7 mesh (2.5G Ethernet backhaul possible)
China version: TP-Link TL-7DR6560 BE6500 x 2 (2.5G Ethernet backhaul possible) -- Low cost option

Damn if you had said this earlier I might have gotten the Xiaomi instead. Just have an innate distrust of chinese brands and chinese firmware.

Yes. You may get a bit cheaper price from Taobao.

Listed price from Xiaomi is RMB799.
https://www.mi.com/shop/buy/detail?product_id=18461

You've got Xiaomi AX3600 which was of very good value. Now if you got Xiaomi BE7000, you will get another Xiaomi router with very good value.

The main complaint about Xiaomi router is the lack of features in the FW but it is still usable by average users. Then Xiaomi BE7000 (as well as Xiaomi 10000) supports Docker -- so you can actually expand the capabilities with Docker Containers (eg: Pi-hole or Adguard Home, etc).

Yah, I guess is still king.

Yah. AX3600 is good. I seriously considering SIMBA 2.5Gbps plan. But seems like nobody is using yet.

Yes it should work if you switch from your current Singtel 1Gbps plan to SIMBA 2.5Gbps plan, but use the SIMBA 2.5Gbps plan as 1Gbps. The main issue is that you will not be able to use the 2.5G capability as your two managed switches are only capable of 1Gbps. I do not know what is the cheapest 2.5G capable managed switch.

You will also lose the following
1) Singtel TV Box -- are you going to give up Singtel TV box?
2) Public IPv4 -- SIMBA is using CGNAT. This may cause problems with Asus FW featues like Asus Instant Guard and VPN servers. It is not mentioned by SIMBA that they will provide Static IPv4 add-on yet.
3) Digital voice -- SIMBA does not support digital voice now (the ONT itself does not support digital voice)

Reference for others about the specific setup mentioned here: option 3

There are a few SIMBA users here in this thread. Take note it is not available island wide, only selected areas in the Northeast.

May I check how long have you been on SIMBA fibre broadband? How is the experience so far?

How did you cancel your old service and migrade to SIMBA?
I have been on simba since Dec 15 and it's been good so far. I didn't experience any downtime when I'm at home using it and other family members didn't say anything about it either. There is a user here who posted saying there was a downtime early in morning 1am or something. You have to look for it several pages back.

I was on m1 no contract since June and when Simba was available in the area,I signed up. The first week I was the only one using it to see how it goes before I let the other members use it. Once that was done and all is ok only then did I cancel the m1 which was on 31st dec.

Here is the start on the simba journey.
