Hi, how much is the fees?
you mean porting from other telco's prepaid sim to TPG postpaid? If you mean this, I paid $10 (cash only) which I think this is the first month's subscription but I aren't 100% sure on this though.

Currently this prepaid is used by my parent who relies on wifi at home, and almost impossible to use data outside which is very painful especially during this period when TT safe-entry is everywhere. I did ask the TPG staff if its possible to port the prepaid sim to TPG's senior citizen $5 plan, but the staff says only possible IF i convert the prepaid to postpaid in the same telco, then portover to TPG on senior plan. However prepaid to postpaid, M1 wanted to charge me $30 for admin fees which I don't agree so I didn't do it.

Anyway, now is the waiting time. The TPG staff did warn me, there is a small group of prepaid port to TPG postpaid may face up to 5 working days waiting time. Else normal should be around 2 working days. Either ways, the prepaid sim is still workable actually.

I am quite surprised the port over to TPG is so fast! Went to Orchard Central outlet to process, activation in slightly more than 24hrs. Given today is New Year's eve, I thought they will only do it by Monday, so having it now is a sweet surprise.

But not sure if it is because I am using lower end budget phone Redmi 8 on the TPG sim, the configuration is a little tricky. VoLTE this I know need to install the TPG calling app. but incoming call does not display name/number at lock screen. It took abit of configuration setting to resolve it, which I am not sure if those less tech or seniors will know how or not... Arent sure if this is the telco or phone issue..

After 1 month of using tpg for delivery i will give my honest feedvack

Price wise and data is attractive
Signal wise for open space no problem
Underground carpark or even on condo some time got no signal
As my reservist is in jc2 both my m1 and tpg has signal but the mobile data quite bad

you are not using VoLTE if you are running TPG calling app.

uninstall the TPG app.

Try this to turn on VoLTE: Dial *#*#86583#*#*on your Xiaomi phone dialer. You will receive a message at the bottom of the screen stating,“Volte carrier check was disabled”.

If it works, you can use the phone dialer to call and receive calls.

If it cannot work due to some reasons, then you have to user the TPG apps, but you have to let the app run in the background, and also go to xiaomi's battery saving feature to make sure that the battery saving feature does not terminate the tpg app when at lock screen.

Uh you didn't say enable VoLTE in settings after the 86583.

Must enable in settings then can use VoLTE.

Thanks guys! I thought Redmi8 is quite old so doesnt support volte. It is working now, much easier for seniors to understand not using the TPG app. :)

iPad Mini 3 support LTE Band 8 (and Band 40 if A1601). Did you enter the APN settings?

tried before. Confirmed does not work for iPad mini 3. Need to be on iPhone SE (1st gen) or iPhone 6s and above kind of devices then only can work with TPG sim.

As per the leaks Apple may switch iPhones to eSIM-only as soon as 2022. So we may not be able to use iPhone on TPG. As TPG dont have eSIM

The moment Apple launches an eSIM only iPhone, you can bet all the telcos will magically roll out eSIM support.

Which also means next time lost phone also easier to get back. I hope
As it stands, there's almost no value in stealing the iPhone right now. iCloud locking is incredibly effective for the most part. Thieves will have to hack to workaround, or tear the phone down to get access to parts (mainly the screen). Beyond that, there's not much value. Swapping the SIM card doesn't amount to much already. But yes, eSIM means that the phone's location can also be triangulated using the telco's towers so it further reduces the incidences of theft of the phone.

I think stealing Android phones have a more practical purpose now. :s13: At least the thief can use the phone.
