Just checking if tpg sim can be used on tablet? Because my uncle tried using on his 2014 10.1 Samsung tablet and the tablet keeps restarting...even Vivo X27 doesn't seem to work...

TPG SIM can be used on tablets.

I used before on Xperia Z2 Tablet, iPad 6th, 7th, 9th generation.

Samsung tablet keeps restarting means the battery might not be able to handle the power required by the system.

Vivo X27 did you set up the TPG APN? Also, if VoLTE doesn't work, might need to use TPG 4G Voice App.

I see. I checked the supported devices and those weren't inside the list. So ended up ordering a Poco X3 instead.

Supported list refers to devices that can work on TPG VoLTE natively.

Else, as long as your device can support LTE Band 8 (Band 40 optional), you're likely to be good to go for data.
Need TPG 4G Voice app to receive and make calls.

Anyone using TPG in a mifi? I know when they first launch, during the 'trial' period, the data used to be throttled in mifi. Are they still doing it for the paid plans?

Also, is there actually any difference between the prepaid $10 plan & the postpaid $10 plan? I look through the website & it looks exactly the same...

Anyone knows if Vivo 1820 supports volte? It was a lucky draw prize, put in TPG simcard but cannot seem to find volte. I tried to google, and there are a few explanation in Indian language, but I just cannot find. I am wondering is it because our local set volte is disabled or removed...

Never throttle for Paid plans.

That sounds like a relatively old Indian phone.
(Google search for Vivo 1820 immediately show it's Y91i (India))

Launched 2019 March, basically no major OS update since launch.
TPG Telecom started trial in Dec 2018, commercial plans launched in March 2020.

Means that it's quite likely that the device doesn't support TPG VoLTE.

Any Pixel3 users on TPG with VOLTE enabled?
Tested on the 4a a few weeks back - VoLTE profiles not available for Google phones.

Using the Pixel phones on the M1 network (M1, Circles, Changi Mobile) also results in the same problem - no VoLTE profiles, for some weird reason. The telcos probably didn't submit their VoLTE profiles to Google's Android team for inclusion.

I just ported over to TPG. had not realised but the $10 plan only provides 30 sms/month. Are incoming OTPs counted as a SMS?

It's unfair to charge for incoming SMS, since you have no control over it. ;)

The problem happens when we travel, because of roaming, incoming SMSes are billed by some operators. Even if we have not received the SMS on the phone - which has happened to me a few times. As long as it is routed through some foreign telco, some bill for receiving SMS - which I feel is too much. Worse cos now we get a lot of spam SMSes - not anything useful to us and still damages us financially.

GSMA carefully phrased it so that there are avenues for telcos to bill customers for receiving roaming SMSes. "For SMS, most operators do not charge for receiving an SMS while roaming, in much the same way as there is usually no charge for receiving an SMS at home."

Yes, which is why I am increasingly of the opinion that autoroaming as a feature is pointless.

Let's face it. The only SMS we actually care about these days are OTP SMSes from banks for approving transactions. However, as banks & credit card issuers move towards approval via apps (DBS for example) or sending OTP via email (Amex), that use case while traveling is increasingly less relevant, especially if there is an additional cost. Mainly a moot point at the moment with the lack of travel but I intend to try switching off autoroaming on my next trip & see how that goes.

Does TPG have a change of ownership service?

Current plan from another telco is not under my name. Or I have to transfer the ownership with the other telco first before signing up?
