Works both ways. If i not wrong. The minimum given should be 1GB. I mean base on individual habit. The top up is i guess for those who accidentally use more than the given capacity.. If you know tat you are going to use more. You shld try to get a oversea sim which is more wuhua and reliable. My 2 cent.

u mean once they notify i recieve the sim card. Even before i do the activation, port in wil be initiated?
Yes.
If you want to delay port in but lock in current rates, you can now sign up via the website, but self-collect. You have up to 90 days to collect the sim card; port-in will happen right after you collected it.

Cannot delay port in.
Once you receive the sim card, porting request will be submitted.
Are you sure? But the card still needs to be activated first after receiving, and since it’s by regular mail, it might take between 1-3 days to be delivered with no tracking.

I think it's not good for us... If not mistaken... The top-up recharg is base on 5 10 20 30 40 50 and so on..... So you end up having weird amount that is stuck inside and cannot be refunded ...

Exactly. No matter what will still be stuck with weird amount when paying for data roaming.

But then once we top up $4 for the additional 1GB roaming data, the $4 is charged and deducted from our balance amount, for that 1GB block, isn't it?
nope. You can only top up in denominations of $5, $10, $20. They charge pay per use instead of 1 whole GB.

For example, you exceeded the data and you use a total of 1.05GB. Meaning you exceed 50MB. You will be charged $0.20 (4cents per 10MB or 20 cents for 50MB). So you balance will be $5 - $0.2 = $4.80.

The remaining balance can use for your future trips. In this case, you are charged more fairly and you don't pay $4 for 1GB data where you only use 50MB. It might sound bad as they hold on to your $4.80. But who knows, if one day you need to make an IDD call to a country, the cost will be deducted from the wallet.

As in after you "activate" the sim card, port-in will commence. The issue is how many days later you can wait.
Also, activation when the mailing option seems to be very problematic, previous threads a lot of ppl complain.

So no matter what, self-collection is more flexible and safer imo.

In kyoto now, simba works well, surfing speed ok. Lucky my mother got her senior $5 Simba also. Total 1 + 1 gb.

Volte also working, normal phone calls between us working, no charges.

No choice now, stupid qoo10 Japan data card not working well. Funny at some places qoo10 card got low reception, but when i needed transport directions information at train or bus stop not working.

Roaming data left after 1/4 day + 1 full day, mostly on Google map, email, WhatsApp, occasionally on hwz forum using opera mini

The Qoo10 kard how much ? I got 1GB per day Softbank eSIM from Shopee.

no bang table ?
Solve this problem, initially put qoo10 sim card in Samsung a7, patchy data reception

Put qoo10 sim card into mi note 10, perfect connection like the simba roaming

nothing to do with new or old phone.

the problem is because the phone has some battery saver feature, it will terminate background apps, including tpg calling app.

to save this problem, go to both app's setting and exclude tpg app from battery saver

My friend exclude tpg voice app from the battery saver. Now it work fine. But only issue is he still need to initial start the tpg voice app whenever the phone is reboot. It seems tpg voice app does not auto load itself when phone reboot start

check with the app has autostart feature, if not, install startup manager or just remember to run tpg app immedicately after boot.

I think app no setting to enable auto start. So only way is to self start the simba voice evetytime phone restart. :D Thanks
