:frown: but important thing is, no need to insert the Simba SIM card into phone and run it yes? Since we got the SIM card from the outlet direct when we went there to apply, no additional activation steps to perform yes?
wait until you cannot connect existing network, then switch simcard. or you receieved email/sms saying porting is successful.

Sigh … problem identified, pending rectification …

M1 Maxx base plan supposedly marked this line as inactive on 1 Jan because never buy the add-on … app popped up the pay $5 prompt … 2 Jan supposedly back to normal and line marked as active again. The number port attempt was done on 1st Jan apparently (I thought they don’t do number porting on non-working day?), failed already never inform :s22:

M1 Customer Service say tell them to resubmit … now waiting for them to do so :frown:

Still M1 Maxx as of 12 noon today :frown:

From 1 Jan till now.

The SIM card is with me, the request was done at the outlet and they gave us the SIM card on the spot.

It hasn’t been inserted into a phone however … is that needed? I assumed that once the phone the M1 Maxx SIM card is in no longer shows network then I’ll take it out and put the Simba SIM in.
You're correct... your number is not yet ported in. So have to wait... probably they can't cope with the deluge of port-in requests... anyway only 4 working days... I waited for 5 days for mine earlier the Q4 of 2024...

No leh … the thing is, M1 Customer Service says there was a failed port request during the time their system marked the number as inactive, which was some time between 1 Jan and 2 Jan and the number was marked back as active on 2 Jan … so they actually work quite fast … only thing is fail they never inform, ding dong ding dong until today 7 Jan after 1st contacting them yesterday, then finally reveal failed, and also never say when the failed attempt happened …

… anyway told them to proceed to resubmit, now need to wait for them to respond.

you must make sure that you dont have outstanding bill and the line is active, before sending the porting request.

It’s M1 Maxx … base plan $0 =:p Looks like those on base plan cannot try to port out near or on 1st of the month. Can’t wait to leave them.

I think what he's trying to say is that he ported out close to the bill deduction date... so on M1 side, it's reflected that he's not paid an outstanding bill... so that's probably why the port out request failed...

Been with Simba for close to 6 months, very happy with it. This is not a complaint but I am curious, anyone know why the 5G speed for Simba is so slow? I was at a spot where both mine and friend has 5G network locked on, both full bars, he is with Zero1, his speed is about 10x faster via Speedtest website.

Practically it has no impact on my usage on the phone since everything works (payment, streaming, normal browsing, telegram, etc). Just wondering why. I vaguely remember Simba wasn't allocated enough signal bands (?)

No.

On my M1 Maxx app it shows “Resets on 25 <Month>”. The thing is, they started this thing where if you didn’t buy anything, on the 1st of the following month the app will get stuck on a popup asking you to buy at least $5 … but it will automatically go away in about a day or so and then the app is back to normal … but during that period the phone still has network and still can be used, so not sure why there’s this sudden inactive issue. But M1 keeps trying to change pattern on this Maxx so a lot of people in the M1 Maxx thread have been porting out.

BTW is there a specific time range when number porting is supposed to happen? Or can happen at any time of the day or night? My previous experience with number porting (SingTel to M1 on both occasions) is late at night?

My phone is still showing M1 Maxx line is active now … if it didn’t become no-network over the night does this mean the next window for porting is only tonight late night?

Waiting for Eight and other MNVO's to up their antes. Anybody's waiting too?
A lot depends on their profit margins... they're on wafer thin margins, probably tough to give the same deals as SIMBA... SIMBA at least owns its own network... so they have better control of costs and also in roaming partnerships...

i reckon it is to prevent any inconvenience to user during the porting process or from machine side, the time for it to log activation at 0000 hrs

Eight never advise u? Usually around midnight after they have submitted the porting request. Depending on the time submitted, it may happen the same business day or next business day.

if port in earlier in the day (morning), will likely be same day/next day porting.
Afternoon will be delayed a little more from what was shared with me.

Similar to how cheque processing by banks work.

Finally the M1 Maxx line turned into “Emergency Calls Only”

Now I took out that SIM and put in the Simba SIM … it also shows “Emergency Calls Only” … SIM card details recognises this to be a Simba SIM, but Unknown Number … I’d already set the APN to TPG …

I guess we’ll see later in the morning.
