Did you restart your device after keying in the APN?

Have been using TPG with Pixel 4a for nearly a year. Noticed that recently the TPG connection is spotty when in my Pixel 4a.

Interchanged TPG/M1 and Pixel/Xiaomi to confirm that both the phones and SIM cards are in good working condition. Pixel works perfectly with M1 but hiccups with the TPG sim.

Somehow, TPG in a Pixel 4a just have more and more hiccups recently. I have no data connection for the whole of yesterday evening till late morning today. It just decided to work properly again now.

Pixel users thinking of switching to TPG , take note.
I only switched to TPG later last month. Two other phones in the family had no issues, but my Pixel 4a had a lot of issues, starting with no mobile data.

I was about to give up, after support staff at ctdi failed to get data on several different pixel phones. I went back to orchard central, and was quite rudely told to get a new phone or new operator by a counter staff. I persisted with another counter staff, and bless her, she fixed it - delete APN add with TPG/TPG and IPv4/IPv6.

Around mid Dec many sites and a few apps would not run without WiFi. No problem at all with WiFi. Response from TPG support was quick and quite helpful, but they finally said, go to Google, it's the handset.

It is NOT THE HANDSET. Something has changed at TPG. I finally traced to a change in APN name. It should now be "TPG Singapore". In fact just use this name, give the APN any name like TPG, leave everything else blank and it works! Protocol shows as IPv4 but I seem to get 100% of sites and apps.

TPG wrote to saying to use TPG / TPG on the APN settings (again). Previously this caused issues (most sites unreachable), but this morning it works fine. I wish the tech support at least explained that something was fixed on their end, because the message was so terse and cryptic.

I had spent much time testing and isolating the issue, using hotspot to determine which ip addresses were unreachable (100% ipv4), testing the sim on other phones, but all they would say was that I should change phone. The Pixel 4a is not exactly running a very highly custom Android system!

Thanks, I tried the APN 'TPG Singapore' on my XM Note 10, the speed test result was faster.

hi just to be clear "TPG Singapore" is the APN field itself not the Name field (which is just a description field) ? thanks

It's weird. TPG, TPG Singapore, "abc", they all work! Not spending anymore time testing. Something has been fixed and I get all sites, instead of only 30%, so I won't fiddle about any more. 😃

Any TPG users are previously ported over from other telco's prepaid sim? I am curious how is the process like, and usually take how long?
I have a m1 prepaid sim, went to TPG at Orchard to process the portover to their postpaid plan. The CSO was warning me they do have a minority group of such customers who will experience much longer waiting time up to 5 days even, which is out of their control

From TPG facebook:

ALERT: Samsung Users
TPG has noticed that a new firmware update for Samsung phones causes issues with our VoLTE service. An update was recently pushed by Samsung over the past 48 hrs and this update has resulted in the loss of VoLTE settings. You may have noticed a corresponding loss of Voice services while your Data services continue to function normally. We are actively engaging with Samsung for a resolution to this. In the meantime visit https://tpgmobile.sg/alert for a quick workaround for this issue. Thank you.
