thanks for the tip, so far are there any known roaming issues facing SIMBA users? just curious
roaming issues? Not much that i have faced. I have roamed with simba in many countries like Indonesia, Taiwan, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands and Finland.

In europe, i still need Simba voice app to call out, as they do not support volte. Not sure if this has been changed. Otherwise, no issues with picking calls or internet issues.

Unlimited local calls is for mobile lines only, if you call fixed line (6xxx) the minutes will be deducted from the 300mins outgoing calls.

Depends on what phone you using, most of the phones samsung or iphones don't need simba voice app as it supports volte. Only old phones don't really support. What phone is he using?
Ah ok thanks.
I think is some Oppo phone but not sure which model, he keeps chatting on mobile so need unlimited calls.
Was considering other telcos but SIMBA is the only one that's decently priced.

which oppo model to be specific? Some older models, i think still need voice app, if it's recent like after 2021, should be fine, but i can't guarantee.

Caused by negligence, in this day and age can't plead ignorance to roaming charges unless if due to technical error...

Watching videos or something. Texting cannot use up so much costs.
Even if it's $500. A layover of 2hours, how can one consume so much data? First, they didn't apply data roaming or data passport, turn on data roaming on phone. Maybe he though he was connected to airport wifi?

On m1 website, it says $0.20/10KB. Additional 20% charge applies on all roaming rates for Pay Per Use Roaming customers. 1,048,576 is 1GB.

Assuming he "accidentally turn on data roaming", $0.2*20%= $0.24/KB, the results as per chat gpt:

To determine the amount of data used given the total charges of $8,944 and the rate of $0.24 per 10KB, you can use the following steps:

  1. Determine the cost per block (10KB block): $0.2410 KB/block=$0.024/KB.10 KB/block$0.24=$0.024/KB.
  2. Divide the total charges by the cost per KB to find the total data used: $8,944$0.024/KB.$0.024/KB$8,944.
Now, calculating the result:

$8,944$0.024≈372,666.67 KB.$0.024$8,944≈372,666.67 KB.

So, if the charges were $8,944 at the rate of $0.24 per 10KB, it would correspond to approximately 372,666.67 KB of data usage.

Thats's 363.94MB. I don't think it's a simple negligience. 363MB can be apps auto updating and background sync of phone data (contacts. email), this always happens on Apple iPhone.

But 363MB for $8944 of excess data is ridicious expensive.

---
If the person is on SIMBA, the absolute cost is $0 for 363.98MB. If the person exceeded the free data bundle on SIMBA, it will only cost
$1.42. (363MB x $4/GB)

Our assumption will not matter, unless we manage to have to info for the charges.
Likely using it as if its SG local data/msg/calls etc. thus, the exorbitant charges?

I just changed to simba. I have been reading reviews people saying underground reception is not good. But I beg to differ. I have used m1 and singtel mnvo, and I find simba seem better for Thompson line underground coverage. Surprised me though.

Although, even at some coffeeshop I have like 0 bar, but still able to watch movie but it's a little slow.

I really like the 10gb Malaysia roaming data. It really helps a lot. But how come simba dun have add on, if I need to travel to China once in a blue moon, hopefully they have this add on, that I can subscribe only when I need it.

Also I want to ask sifu here. A lot of talk on the VOLTE and VOwifi. I still don't understand in this. If I connect to any lte or WiFi network when I'm in overseas, then I use VOLTE and VOWIFI to call using simba number, and I wont get charged? Is that what it means?

1. On people reviews on underground not good, this reviews are old reviews, and people spread it because people said it, and one by one spread. The most recent IMDA test on downtown line, singtel even failed it. SIMBA passed all test in underground, be it DTL, TEL, KPE, CTE or MCE. In fact, i feel Simba the strongest in DTL and TEL as these lines are newest and before it start operating, simba already worked with them to install the infra inside tunnel.

2. I guess you are on the 10GB malaysia plan. Simba currently don't have add on, but their data is pay per use. It cost $4/GB only. Moreover, it's pay as you use. Meaning, if you use 100MB, you be chared only $0.40. To start off before you go china, just top up your simba wallet.

The unlimited phone calls is for local mobile lines only. Calling back to Singapore is also free. However, some countries do not support volTE yet hence you can't call back. To resolve this issue, you have to download Simba voice app to call back Singapore. If your network at home is weak, you may use voWIFI (your home wifi) to call out. VoLTE or voWIFI is actually just using 4g/wifi network to make phone calls, different from whatsapp calls.

Below from simba website

Does roaming cover calls and SMS?

https://support.simba.sg/hc/en-us/articles/4487047558681-Does-roaming-cover-calls-and-SMS

Besides data roaming, SIMBA subscribers can enjoy calls to and from Singapore without any roaming charges.

You won’t longer need to reject incoming calls when you are travelling abroad with SIMBA.

Voice Calls

Download SIMBA Voice App to make and receive calls overseas seamlessly.

1. Calls to and from Singapore do not have additional roaming charges.

2. Outgoing calls to any Singapore mobile number is free, while outgoing calls to a Singapore fixed line will be deducted from the plan’s Local Fixed Line Minutes allowance (Please add +65 if you are making calls to Singapore while roaming)

3. Outgoing calls to local numbers of the destination you visit is supported. You can either purchase a SIMBA Super IDD Pack or deduct from SIMBA Wallet based on prevailing IDD rates.

SMS

Incoming SMSs are free. Outgoing SMSs are not supported while roaming.

Is it just me or that in many places, I can access Internet via a Web browser app (Chrome), but other apps just don't work?
It's 4g signal with full reception, speed test does fantastic (if I do it via Chrome app) but other apps just can't access the Internet and keeps loading infinitely?

Was wondering if its just me or my phone (pixel 6a)

Oh wow... Amazing! It worked and is finally back to normal.
I was suffering for a few weeks and kept thinking it was just bad signal.
Really appreciate your help, and hope it can help others who see your message too
