i just got my new iphone and my second line is simba, on esim

i'm a busy person. the $5 is annoying but i can afford

i cant afford the time queuing up just to transfer esim

that's why i'm changing telco and porting over the number instead. no need to waste time going orchard

Hmm, i guess most of us can afford too, just that the way eSim operates and charges whenever one wants to swap devices (especially interchanging regularly and not one-off replacement) are not very agreeable.

Not all service providers charge for eSIM replacements. Sad that Simba is not free.

I will port out when I need to replace the eSIM, whether to port back or not is another question.

Still, the hassle to apply. Physical SIM swapping devices are anytime anywhere, right here right now.

Physical SIM should be main stream especially as main line and eSIM should be additional for temperory usage or dispensable secondary line like roaming i think.

So our primary line for banking and other important tasks should be left as physical SIM?

I'm still deciding since first time not having a dual SIM phone for my primary line.

I would reckon so, to avoid the gap or problem that arises from applying eSim to use for another device.

Not really. Right now SH customers can change phones by scanning the original QR code with their new phone. Simple and free. So much easier than changing psim. This method should be the end result for all telcos.

Why must we stick to using 1 phone at a time, physical SIM allows changing of devices any time, especially when one has few devices to play around. One can also do a speed test for a particular telco network with different devices. But to each his own, different usage habit.

was happy roaming with Simba in JB. It was connected to u mobile. connection quite stable. no issues topping up youtrip card.

My greatest joy in JB roaming only started after I went with Simba.

Data Roaming 24/7, don't need to do anything while crossing the causeway.

Very disappointed with Simba services. I was with my elderly father when he lost his concession card. Tried calling TransitLink 1800 number and call could not connect despite 2 attempts and once more after toggling on and off airplane mode. Fortunately had another provider's line to call and call connected immediately. Once home, applied for replacement card online using Simba fibre broadband. At the payment screen for eNETS, payment could not go through as location specific info was required by bank. Suspected it was due to IP address issue because of Simba fibre's CGNAT. Be warned.

Jeez...because it is a new account and the experience is negative, I am from a competitor. I have also provided feedback to IMDA about the issues I faced.

It was to sound a cautionary note to others who may be considering the provider. If to create an account to 'rant' is 'crazy', then posting Speedtest results here and there, and not about real world usage of 5G, and fanboy postings must be 'wise'.

Jeez...because it is a new account and the experience is negative, I am from a competitor. I have also provided feedback to IMDA about the issues I faced.

Suggest changing service provider when service provided does not meet expectations/requirements, many MNO & MVNO to choose from. Can read up the forum comments before making a replacement consideration.
