SIMBA's voice app also has (or had) another purpose: to provide voice and SMS support on devices that support 4G LTE but not VoLTE. Some older devices fit that profile.

To correct, SMS support is still available on non-VoLTE 4G devices, it is the out-going voice call that benefits most. For the time being, it is the god-send app that gives non-VoLTE 4G devices a second life instead of collecting dust or dumped. That, Simba is doing enviroment a big favour.

Just went to SIMBA Service Centre in Somerset after work.

I went there hoping that they could solve the mystery or glitch on the fact that I could not receive an SMS from Indo friends and bank OTP from Indo. +62

I had no problem receiving SMS from Malaysia (+60) no problem.

It was mindblowing the place is run by an uncouth ahbeng. the station manager in the service centre.

After all the BS, he just brushed me off that my number has not been not fully ported in, that is why I cannot receive sms. Needs 48-72hrs.

Previously, I signed up a new line from Simba and I could receive sms from indo no problem, that was why i confident to port-in to SIMBA for my main line.

how long ago was the porting completed? suspect the Indonesia side might still (mis-)route SMS to your old telco.

I've already a Seniors Plan account with SIMBA.

I want to get a pre paid plan for just 30 days & then let it stop. But after 30 days will this pre paid plan be auto renewed using my Credits from my SIMBA's account?

how long ago was the porting completed? suspect the Indonesia side might still (mis-)route SMS to your old telco.

I am interested to learn about how the international SMS routing works.
Any article or could you shed some lights on this?
Much appreciated if you can tell me what I should do to troubleshoot this?

i'm not a telco engineer. not sure how it works.

but i believe there is some caching involved, the indonesian telcos might still think your number is still with the old operator. just wait a few more days.

I visited Eight Service Centre a couple of weeks back for the first time, it's a nice lady at the counter. Yup, I'd been hesitating to go there due to the encounters shared by others here, but I was in the area so went in.

I think I've encountered that guy from Simba Orchard Central. One word - rude.

No doubt he looked more knowledgeable than the others at that time (but I didn't know he's the one in charge of the place), there's no need for his attitude. Have seen him there after but I largely just ignored him since he wasn't serving me after.

yup, same experience. when i pointed out that simba voice app was removed from play store and had problems receiving calls unless in foreground, he loudly said, it's no longer supported, and one should just buy a new phone.

when i pointed out that even in some roaming countries, VoLTE was not supported, he just shrugged and said, if your phone can't receive calls, just buy a new phone.

just didnt want to help, or simply not knowledgeable to give an answer, so resort to this kinda behavior.

Yes, that is probably the reason, as well as roaming to other places like China.

I should have not quoted the last sentence.

In his other post, he clearly shows that SIMBA senior plan 400GB is good enough for his usage in Singapore and Malaysia.

I used the Simba senior plan ($5 monthly) on roaming data in JB yesterday, after cancelling my Celcom line.

I checked my usage on the Simba app today. It showed the data deducted from my 400 GB quota for Singapore. Data used in Malaysia comes from the Singapore quota. This is great.

I did not have any complaints about slow connection. It may happen in some locations but it was temporary.

I do not mind or care that my mobile phone is known to others.

Some may use it to scam me. I know how to deal with them.

Some may use it to waste my time on useless messages. I ignore them. They are also wasting their time.

Some have malicious intent. I curse their parents.

Several people send private messages to tell me that my phone number was exposed, for example, my post on Simba.

I told them not to waste my time also. They may be fearful that their phone number is exposed. I am not.
