Answer is in SingTel faq, ONR and WiFi mesh are provided. Own router can only be used as AP. Throttling is in place.

https://www.singtel.com/content/dam/...Q_Customer.pdf

Therefore this SingTel 2Gbps plan is not for power user who want to use their own high end router either.

All the 2Gbps and up broadband from the likes of M1, viewquest, Singtel etc aren't for "power users" as they come with the same restrictions for web, mail and FTP server hosting like the slower plans.

Only superinternet does not have such limitations.

I see. But I think web/email/ftp server hosting usages belong to business use case to me and these plans are for consumers. IMHO the restrictions are very reasonable.

On the other end, using own router, own dns settings, using VPN, gaming (eg: low Ping to game server), streaming, faster international bandwidth, etc, are legitimate use case for consumers, especially power users.

Using your own router and setting your own DNS IP is basically possible with every ISP except Singtel.

Considering superinternet 10G plan cost the same as other ISP 10G plan. There is no reason to use those over superinternet

planning to switch from myrepublic to singtel's Fibre Broadband for the switch bundle offer.
https://www.singtel.com/content/dam/...p-nintendo.pdf

concerned about stability since i've read singtel users having quite a number of issues with them. Are those past issues or current users also experiencing the same? (e.g. slow network speed / BT cap / etc)

Your link seems to be 404.

SingTel is very stable, using SingTel Fibre since 2011. But not the wireless AC Plus router bundled where there are some complaints. I use my own wireless router since 2014.

Since you will be a new subscriber you will get the ONR for 1Gbps plan and you can use any AP or router configured as AP if you are not happy with the bundled AC Plus.

What is your current router?

As for BT then I am not sure since Streaming is the way to go and BT of licensed content is always in legal limbo and especially problematic now that content providers are increasingly using court orders to block sites.

BTW do not choose the WiFi mesh bundle with Askey or Airties because they run SingTel customized FW. Many users seem to have problems. Better to buy your own Mesh solution if you need Mesh.

Considering Singtel already limits bittorrent on their 2Gbps plan I doubt they won't for the 1Gbps plan.

Also you can't use any router or mesh router with the ONR. You will have to use an access point and not all mesh routers can work as access point.

Which Asus? It should work as AP but might be a bit wasted to just function as an AP if it is the AC68U/AC86U/AC88U or similar.

And for sure SingTel throttles BT for 1Gbps plan.

M1 does not have throttling for all of their price plans.

I usually use weird tricks to bypass throtting like changing public ip and ttl values lol

Can someone post their WiFi speed on 5ghz network when standing beside Router

That depends a lot on the device and the router.

Even for SingTel issued router AC Elite (AC1900 class), my friend got 608Mps down and 559Mbps up speed with his Samsung Note 9 (2x2 AC client? Theoretical max speed 866Mbps but you will never reach there).

For me my iPhone 6S (1x1 AC client, theoretical max speed 433Mbps), I got about 270Mbps from SinTel issued AC Plus (AC1200 class, up to 866Mbps at 5GHz, only tested for a short time). For my wife’s iPhone X (2x2 AC client), the speed is up to 503Mbps based on the limited tests.

All results are with Speedtest SingTel server.

I am using 4 year old Linksys WRT1900AC ( support 3x3 AC client up to 130bps). I can get about 380Mbps best cases for my iPhone 6S and 510Mbps from iPhone X.

I see people get 600Mbps from iPhone X from better routers.

Still WiFi depends a lot on the clients— very few 3x3 AC clients out there for notebooks and mobile phones.

ok i answer my own qn. you DO NOT have to use the provided Singtel AC Plus router to watch singtel tv.

I'm using a pretty old Asus N56U router as access point, and singtel tv works.

Anyone know how to connect singtel fibre to 3rd party router?

I brought a dlink 868 to replace my faulty singtel ac 1900...

Can connect to ssid with signal but no internet access...
