I am near to the end of my 24 months contract in June 2025, thinking of staying with Singtel or switch telco to StarHub for the 5Gb

I think you still got time, no need to rush. Just wait and see.

Currently the best offer from all ISPs is the M1 6Gbps offer at S$34.90 per month with free Archer BE805.

Haha for me, I'm only looking for cheap plans. The speed and equipment doesn't matter much to me.

The Singtel 5Gbps is <$29.90 for me. There's also free Singtel TV bundled.
Singtel has 5Gbps at $29.90? Mine was 1Gbps at $48.90

You can try to negotiate with Singtel to see if you can get the following recontract offer or not. Take note it is considered as a "targeted offer" so you may or may not get it. YMMV.

Again the "hidden offer" link is in the above sticky thread. The bundled wireless router is lousy (resale value may be S$20) so the value is not as good as M1 6Gbps at S$34.90 per month with free Archer BE805 (resale value is around S$280 to S$300).

Thank you 🙏🏼 I still have 2 months to decide, actually I was thinking why Singtel ceased their Gamer broadband plans?

'gamer' plan is a gimmick, unless you really know what you signed up for

i.e. ip routing, latency, custom route, etc...

so far, i think MR Gamer Plan provides the best

5Gbps Pro Gamer Plan comes with an XGSPON Optical Network Router (ONR), an ASUS RT-AX86U Wi-Fi 6 Gaming Router for Wi-Fi connectivity, and the WTFast Gaming Private Network optimize traffic path the game servers globally for a better gaming experience. Fixed line is also bundled into the 5Gbps Pro Gamer Plan.

5Gbps symmetric bandwidth allows for a maximum download speed of up to 5Gbps and a maximum upload speed of up to 5Gbps on our new XGSPON Optical Network Router (ONR). The ONR has 1x10Gbps active LAN port that can transmit at a maximum speed of up to 5Gbps, and up to 4x available active GbE LAN ports that can each transmit at a maximum speed of 1Gbps (ONR model may vary during activation depending on availability). These ports can transmit to your ASUS RT-AX86U Wi-Fi 6 Gaming Router, Singtel Mesh Extenders, third party router / access point, or Internet-enabled devices (e.g., computer, Smart TV) via a wired connection.

Singtel also want to swap my current ONT to ONR!!

As you already found, Singtel's new Gamer Pro plans are not really that Pro at all as it comes with XGS-PON ONR. The 5Gbps Gamer Pro plan comes with the old RT-AX86U. The 10Gbps Gamer Pro plan comes with the old GT-AX11000 Pro. The main thing they offer for the gamer is actually 24 months of WTFast Gamers Private Network Service.

I will say not worth the money.

New FW update to ZTE F8648P may prevent ONR bridging.
https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/...te-f8648p-superadmin-password.6946718/page-16

In general, users who want to avoid ONR should really avoid Singtel and not to count on the ability to bridge the ONR manually, unless you are willing to pay S$10 per month to Singtel to officially bridge the ONR.

Noticed that there was firmware update waiting on the MySingtel App for the F8648P.

Pushed it to the router and it took about 5 - 6 minutes to update. It's now on the V2.1.10P5N20B firmware.

Quick check on the support login, and it seems that they removed the bridging ports on the Fast Setting page.

Very interesting update. I believe you need to enable the option in MySingTel app to allow Singtel to access the ONR. I saw the option and I did not proceed since I do not want that.

But then Singtel may still have the option to push the FW update without user agreement using TR-069. Let's see.

New ZTE F8648P ONR users may also get this new FW which may prevent the bridging.

Anyone know what is the protocol to request for bridging mode?

Got a family member on Singtel that's keen to upgrade to 5gbps but on ONT. So need to call Technical support helpdesk before recontracting?

Maybe it is easier to sign up in Singtel shop.

Take note it costs S$10 per month, unless you can request for waiver.

That’s correct, need technical support to hold a major, 2- week meeting to decide if you’re worthy to be given bridge mode. If you’re of good standing, bridge mode will be granted. You must then instruct that tech support rep to put this approval into your records before calling or visiting the retention department to negotiate the new contract.

I went through this painful process to justify my need for the feature and was allowed bridge mode for $5 monthly, 2-year contract, and tied to a $39 3Gbps contract. Total cost is about $45. Couldn’t be bothered so I’m letting my 1Gbps ONT contract lapse and pay $50.40

Thanks all for sharing. So it’s very hard to get a fee waiver?

I’m curious about this bridging service so if you change from optical network terminal to optical network router, are you still able to use the connections in our house for the optical network router to be in the DB box and then connect via the LAN cable to the various part of the five bedrooms?

Take note ONR bridging is not exactly the same as configuring the ONR as ONT. For ONT, only one port is working.

You may have to check with SingTel if they carry out official bridging for you. You may need to pay S$10 per month as this is a VAS.

For manual bridging by the user: as per the reports here.
1) ZTE F8648P ONR, the unbridged LAN ports no longer works.
2) Nokia XS-240X-A, the unbridged LAN ports still works.
