Oh I see... then I have no option to move to another ISP. Can you share with me the Starhub special offer link because from the website I cannot find any.

How about MyRepublic, are they using ONT?

Links provided in the following thread. You can read the first page to come to your conclusion. MR uses ONT. But it is using CGNAT by default and you may need to pay for Static IPv4 add-on to get your wireguard VPN server to work.

Which SingTel? 1688? Shop? WhatsApp? Facebook? Roadshow? Door to door sales person?

Have you clicked the link?

If you have finished 21 month contract, just click the link to see how it goes. If they reject your offer, then you can report back.

DO NOT trust just one SingTel sales person, they have many different sales channels and kind of compete with each other some times.
Tried using the link, 1688 and SingTel shop @313. No go. Time to find a new ISP.

The Singtel 5Gbps recontract offer at S$29.90 per month is now even better with HB611-SGST bundle instead of the old Singtel AX5400 device.
https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/threads/singtel-1-gbps-fibre.5930834/page-256#post-155149316

Actually this is a very good deal for those who do not mind using ONR. The original link mentions Singtel AX5400 device. Now they seem to replace that with the much-better HB611-SGST (dual 2.5G ports, dual 1G ports).

Singtel 5Gbps recontract offer at S$29.90 per month --> Singtel ONR (wired) + HB611-SGST (dual 2.5G ports, dual 1G ports).

Starhub S$29.55 5Gbps offer ONT option --> no router given, top up for HB710 at S$192 (S$8 per month) or EB810v at S$360 (or S$15 per month)

Starhub S$29.55 5Gbps offer ONR option -->Nokia ONR (AX6000) + Nokia Beacon 2 (AX1800, 1Gbps only)

Starhub S$30.37 5Gbps recontract offer ONT option --> TP-Link EX510 (AX3000, 1Gbps only), top up for HB710 at S$192 (S$8 per month) or EB810v at S$360 (or S$15 per month)

Starhub S$30.37 5Gbps recontract offer ONR option -->Nokia ONR (AX6000) + one or two units of Nokia Beacon 2 (AX1800, 1Gbps only) --> now seems to have only one unit

++++ Singtel 5Gbps recontract link +++++++
https://www.singtel.com/personal/products-services/broadband/eform/recon-dm/fibre-5g
5Gbps Enhanced plan at $29.90/mth (U.P. $95.90/mth)
Comes with 1 unit of Singtel AX5400 WiFi 6 mesh device

Fibre Plan includes:
Home Line
12 months of Disney+ Premium subscription on us (U.P. $18.98/mth applies thereafter)
12 months of Amazon Prime subscription on us (U.P. $4.99/mth applies thereafter)
12 months of Broadband Protect subscription on us (U.P. $3/mth applies thereafter)
This link still available as don't view on official site ?

Yes it is still available. If you are eligible for recontract, you can always click the link and see how it goes.

In general, you get bad offers for recontract when using the main SingTel website (same for Starhub). You have to get either targeted SMS/Email/postal offer (may be good or bad) or the hidden link offers.

Another important thingL DO NOT trust Singtel salesperson when they claim an online offer is not availble for you. They may not know the offer. Singtel has many sales channel and they may even compete with each other. Just click the link to see how it goes if you are eligible for recontract.

Same for Starhub -- you get much better new user 5Gbps offer at S$29.55 per month offer by using the two hidden links which you can not find from the main website. Then you get targeted 5Gbps recontract offer at S$30.37 per month.

This is why I am collecting the offers in the sticky thread Singapore ISP Comparison. You just need to read the first page of the thread.

It depends on your wireless device.

1Gbps WAN speed can be a limitation for good WiFi 6 devices (can go to 1.6Gbps or a bit higher).
2.5Gbps or 3Gbps WAN speed can be a limitation for good WiFi 7 devices (can go higher than 3Gbps or even 4Gbps).

5Gbps WAN speed --> typical wireless speed cannot reach so high speed
10Gbps internet (8.2x Gbps WAN speed) --> you need multiple fast WiFi 7 clients to saturate the bandwidth.

WiFi 7 speed in this forum, the record is > 4.8Gbps at close range.

Suggestion is to move to another ISP's ONT based plan, like Starhub 5Gbps special offer at S$29.55 per month (ONT) option. You continue using all the functions of your RT-AX86U, including Wireguard VPN server. You can change to use the 2.5G port as WAN port to boost the WAN speed. Then you can also upgrade to better router in the future to fully utilize the 5Gbps bandwidth, like Asus RT-BE88U or Asus ZenWiFi BT10.
@xiaofan, I read some postings indicate that still possible to work around if I need to enable WireGuard VPN server if I setup Asus router behind the ONR router. Can you share with me the settings?

I am sorry that I no longer have the unbridged ONR setup -- so I cannnot share the settings. Now I use bridged ONR and OpenWRT as the main router.

Basically you have to set up wireguard server on the Asus router (in router mode, Double NAT) and then set up port-forward on the Singtel ONR. One potential problem is with DDNS. Singtel ONR's DDNS support may be troublesome. Asus DDNS may not work reliably with Double NAT.

You will still encounter potential issues with Double NAT even though that depends on your use cases.
https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-double-NAT-and-why-is-it-bad

So in the end, my recommendation is to move away from Singtel. If you die die must go with Singtel, then take the risks to bridge the ONR.

Just a successful report for reference.

The lesson learned is as mentioned before -- DO NOT trust what single SingTel salesperson says. They have too many sales channels and usually the salesperson may not know all the offers. Sometimes they may even compete with each other.

https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/...comparison-latest-promo-deals.6665380/page-69

@xiaofan, for sharing, this week I got an offer letter from Singtel, it is $46.9 for 5GBPs plan.. I did call in to negotiate but they said this is their lowest offer for 5G plan so far..

You can always try to click the 5Gbps recontract link at S$29.90 per month offer to see how it goes.

yes, I did submit a recontract request via the $29.90 link. That's see how it goes...

all, mine is expiring Jul this year... I managed to sign up via the link for Singtel $29.9 5GPBs plan. and it was processed successfully yesterday, and I received the service contract. Installation will happen next 2 weeks.

Cannot get the $29.90 plan. SingTel say for targetted customers only. I’m on the 1+1 plan.

Strange. So far the other Singtel users seem to report success in getting the 5Gbps at S$29.90 per month recontract offer.

Just wondering what is the reason Singtel rejected your recontract order through the link.

Are you eligible for recontract? You can check that using MySingtel App. Sometimes if you are using a higher tier plan (eg: 1+1 Gbps Gamer bundle plan) and then go to a lower tier plan (maybe this 5Gbps recontract offer is considered as a lower tier plan), they may require you to finish 24 month contract. You may want to check with Singtel.

Last time I was with the so-called 1Gbps enhanced mesh plan (ONT plus a pair of Askey AP5100W Wi-Fi 5 Mesh), paying S$39.90 per month but the original price was supposed to be at around S$53.90 per month (forgot the exact amount). Then when I wanted to recontrac to the basic 1Gbps plan early August 2024 they mentioned to me that I needed to wait for 24 month contract to finish (towards the end of August 2024). But I would be allowed to upgrade to 2Gbps plan (at S$39.95 per month at that time) or 5Gbps plan (at S$49.90 per month at that time). In the end I chose to go with the 5Gbps plan at S$49.90 per month (no good 5Gbps offer at that time).

On the other hand, if you want to leave Singtel, indeed there are different options. You can refer to the sticky thread. Just need to read the first page.

Hi Xiaofan,

Tried the link again yesterday and all good now. Managed to recontract. Also managed to get them to agree to bridge the port as I’m existing on the 1+1 gamer plan. Was placed on hold for 10 mins as the CS need to get approval. Installing on 1 march. so I will update the status later. Planning to re-use the existing 2 x AX86U for now and maybe replace the main router with BE92U later. Worried that the new wifi 7 might affect the IOT in the house.

Glad that you can get the good recontract offer.

You are the first user in this forum to convince Singtel to bridge the XGS-PON ONR for you. Power to you! Thanks a lot for the report!

(I understand that the 1+1 Gamer plan's officially bridged ONR plays a big part in this -- so other users may not get this nice treatment from Singtel).

RT-AX88 is way better than the free SingTel AX5400.

But two users managed to get HB611-SGST instead which may give you faster WiFi at close range (triband WiFi 7 BE11000, dual 2.5G ports). YMMV.

For those who recontract at $29.9 did the singtel staff mention price will rise after 24 mth contract end? Saw this under T&C:
5Gbps Enhanced Plan (WiFi 6) at $29.90/mth: A 24-month contract applies. This plan consists of 5Gbps
Enhanced Plan at a promotional price of $29.90/mth (inclusive of a 24-month $66 monthly bill discount). Usual
price of $95.90/mth for 5Gbps Enhanced Plan will apply after the 24-month contract
.

I'm still holding the $29.9 500mbps plan & even out of contract for many years, price stay the same. This current offer is awesome but if price will rise after contract end then it is bad.

That's when you switch ISPs, or recontract to another plan of similar price. 😂

Unfortunately only some legacy SingTel plans will have such good terms and conditions. Most if not all the current SingTel Fibre Internet plans will have higher out of contract pricing.

My old 1Gbps normal plan was at S$37.90 per month in Sept 2020 and then S$49.90 per month out of contract. Then later it was S$39.90 per month for the August 2022 recontract but the out of contract price increased to S$53.90 because it came with two mesh nodes.

Legacy Starhub 500Mbps and M1 500Mbps plan are also good in this aspect -- no price increase out of contract.

The report from Starhub thread seems to indicate that the special Starhub 5Gbps offer at S$29.55 per month will keep the same price after contract expiration.

Most users do not worry about out of contract pricing since they always look at the different options every two years -- either to stick to the same ISP or switch to another ISP.

Actually most of the users do not care about routing -- other than more hard-core gaming.

And when it comes to routing to China, it depends on the host but often Singtel is better than M1/Starhub/VQ,

BTW, Singtel users may get different IPv4 address (different segment), and the routing can be a bit different.
