Looks like you have migrated your SingTel S$15.28 plans to Singtel hi! S$13 Postpaid 5G plans. Do you still keep any Singtel S$15.28 lines?

How is your overall experience with SingTel hi! 5G plan other than the 5G SA coverage issue?

That issue (falling back from 5G SA to 4G in some locations) is not unique to Singtel hi! 5G plan. It also happens to Singtel's own plans and SingTel MVNOs' 5G plans, because of 5G NSA network shutdown.

I may want to go with the same as well. Right now my wife is using SingTel hi! S$13 5G plan as the roaming line in Guangzhou China and so far so good.
I still have my Singtel $15.28 plan contract (old ver with 6GB MY romaing) till Q3 of 2026 which is my secondary line while my main line on 5G Singtel Hi! Port in ($13).

I'm experiencing the exact same issue at home and at workplace. Once Wi-Fi is off, my phone briefly connects to Singtel 5G SA with only 1–2 bars of signal, then quickly drops to a full-bar 4G LTE connection. Previously, I had a reliable 3-bar 5G NSA connection.

I have wrote my feedback address to IMDA and the telcos via the OneService app. There are cell towers right next door, one on the adjacent block's roof and another at the end of the street block roof as well. Whether these are dedicated or shared base stations, the current 5G SA coverage here seems weak, so seek their investigation whether these base station are they indeed operational in 5G SA mode or only providing 4G or is it even working in the first place.

IMHO.
If this need to be, it should be done collectively.
Does it matter how they offer it ? No. I paid for 5G and I should get 5G, not 4G.

Better to chat with SingTel hi! agent through the Singtel hi! App chat function to confirm.

My understanding:
If you already paid for one month, by the new terms and conditions, the SIM Card validity will be 180 days (30 days usage plus 150 days grace period). Therefore you do not need to purchase the S$3 add-on if you just want to keep the line alive. But after the grace period, you may have to pay the monthly fee again.

ii. Singtel hi! SIM Cards will be terminated upon expiry of the SIM Validity Period as provided in these Singtel hi! Terms. Singtel hi! SIM Cards that have been terminated, cannot be reinstated for any reason.

Previously the SIM Card validity was 90 days (30 days of full usage and 60 days of grace period). I was able to receive calls and SMS during the grace period. Then the SIM card was deactivated after 90 days from the day of purchase.

Seems like after the 1st free month your promo data won't show it on their home screen. Need to click 'View plan details' to see the data left. Everything else works fine. Anyone know if downgrading the plan is possible or not? Since I noticed its 4g infrastructure is amazing in my area. Do I have to manually click and buy the pack?

LAST REMINDER: LAST DAYS!
Singtel's 5G NSA network permanently closes on 30 June 2026. Our records show you're still using a 4G SIM. If you do not upgrade to a FREE 5G+ SIM before 30 June, you will lose access to Singtel 5G+ services. Upgrade immediately via Singtel hi! app (hiapp.singtel.com > Click ‘Me’ > Click ‘Request New SIM’) or at the Singtel roadshow, Bugis Cube (opposite Bugis Junction), daily 11am–9pm, or an authorised hi! retailer: singtel.com/hiretailersauthorised. Bring your ID and current SIM. After upgrading, top up a $15 hi! Plan to enjoy 500GB of 5G data. Details: singtel.com/5gupgrade. If you have already upgraded your SIM, please ignore this SMS.

I am sure some would have read my ranting with Singtel.
Here is the outcome of that saga.

I have a Singtel SIM card used for mobile broadband donkey years ago. it's capable of connecting to 4G+ now.

should I go and replace with a free 5G sim card with Singtel even though it is not used for any 5G plan?

Better upgrade -- since you may upgrade to a 5G+ SIM router or use it with a 5G mobile phone later.

I upgraded mine because I could only connected to 5G NSA was going to roam in China - I heard China got excellent 5G. I went there, to my disappointment, I can only connect to 5G NSA and like maybe 10% of the time and even so, it is spotty.

Indeed the short term user experiences of Singtel and Singtel MVNO users may drop. Let's see if 5G SA coverage can be improved along the way, or the 4G core network can be less congested so that fallback to 4G is not bad.

On the other hand, it may depend on the areas you frequent. For example for my daily routine, I seldom see 4G other than inside the lift or a few weak signal areas at the workplace: home, Boon Lay Bus Interchange inside Jurong Point, Bus, Workplace (all in the west). And compared to year 2025, I could see 5G SA coverage improved, both for Singtel 5G network and StarHub/M1 network.

BTW, today I saw 5G NSA at Raffles Place MRT station with my Singtel S$15.28 main line. Probably Singtel may keep 5G NSA at some indoor or underground areas even after 1 July 2026.

there is no 5G SA roaming at the moment.

at least for Singapore users that are travelling overseas, you won't get 5G SA roaming until next year - at the earliest.

also can you share which network were you connected to in China? i assume you were using Hi?

My wife just returned from China yesterday. She was pretty happy with SingTel hi! S$13 plan Roaming in China for her three weeks of stay in Fujian (Fuzhou and Putian, one week) and Guangdong province (Guangzhou, two weeks).

She is using iPhone 14, Singtel hi! S$13 plan (eSIM) is the roaming provider (24 GB China roaming data in total, no roaming voice function). Roaming data for her main Singtel S$15.28 line is disabled on the phone (physical SIM).

Roaming partner: either China Mobile or China Unicom

Connection: 4G when I checked with her, once in Fujian and once in Guangzhou. 4G connection is fine for WeChat video call in China.

Total roaming data used: about 13GB.

I also asked her to bring the backup phone (Poco X6 Pro Android phone) with eight mobile S$8 plan (3GB China data, free roaming voice). In the end she did not really need to use this one.

Just curious, were there any calls to this line? did she reject it directly or the calls were previously forwarded to another number before she travel there?

Any issue with the line being unexpectedly connected to China Mobile even though data roaming is disabled?

I did not check. I believe no roaming voice calls for her line.

I use the same settings for my short trip to China in Dec 2025, but with eight/SIMBA/CUniq and giga travel eSIM as the roaming provider.

No problems with two roaming voice calls from a Singapore government agency. I rejected one call and ignored the other call, and then I used eight number to call back.

No extra charges for my Singtel S$15.28 line. Take note I seldom travel. YMMV...

I do not use the call forwarding trick -- I feel that is complicated and unnecssary based on my experiences with Singtel Mobile (Sept 2013 to now, Combo 2 and then Singtel SIM Only).
