How come ST keep coming up with all these rules to penalise serial porters. First Zym, Zero1 now this.

Don't see the same pattern elsewhere.

If you only offer people promos to new port in and not existing subscribers of course people will port in / out.

If management has a brain, we wouldn't have such issues. But since when is there brains with management? :o

singtel hi! getting sneakier

Indeed.

This is also mentioned in the FAQ now.
https://www.singtel.com/personal/products-services/mobile/hi/faq

Transfer hi! number to another provider

To transfer your hi! by Singtel number to another provider, you'll need to make the number transfer request with your new provider.

You can’t port out your number in the 7 business days before your plan renews. This helps prevent you from being charged for a new billing cycle while your number is being ported. You can submit a port-out request once your next billing cycle begins.

If you port out your number within 90 days of activating your hi! plan, a $30 administration fee applies.

This FAQ is confusing about receiving incoming roaming SMS. They claim you need to use 3G network to receive incoming roaming SMS.

https://www.singtel.com/personal/products-services/mobile/hi/faq

Access to calls and SMS when overseas
You’ll be able to receive SMS overseas even without an active roaming plan — as long as the country you’re in still supports 3G. But you won’t be able to receive calls.

As hi! roaming plans are data-only, you won’t be able to send SMSes and make calls overseas as well.

The Gomo Roaming FAQ mentions similar thing as well.

https://www.gomo.sg/personal/faq
Can I access calls and SMS when roaming?

You’ll be able to receive SMS overseas even without an active roaming plan — as long as the country you’re in still supports 3G. But you won’t be able to receive calls.

As GOMO roaming plans are data-only, you won’t be able to send SMSes and make calls while overseas as well.

To make international calls from Singapore, get our IDD add-on instead.

ST shops don't handle HI, so I believe the advice to head to retailer is accurate from my experience.
Can't advise port-in process, others might be of better help.

Interestingly 1800-482-2800 is now listed as the hotline support for SingTel hi! which mostly refer to the SingTel hi! PostPaid plans. This number used to be only for the SingTel Prepaid customers.

There is a report from the prepaid thread that saying the hotline 1800 482 2800 now redirects SingTel Prepaid Customers to WhatsApp channel at 8082 2800.

Not so sure if they will do the same thing for SingTel hi! PostPaid customers as well.

Take note SingTel Shop still has a physical counter for SingTel Prepaid customers. The physical shop does not really support SingTel hi! PostPaid customers or Gomo customers.

6482 2800 yes this one, seriously a big downgrade in service as it will redirect me to the WhatsApp chat 8082 2800 which has slow replies, going to port out from Singtel to M1.

Singtel is the best! "One man's meat is another man's poison"

18004822800, u must know how to navigate to talk to customer service, I cannot remember liao, just listen carefully, choose the right option.

I use to call this number and able to get to a human.
The last I tried a few days back, believe that option is no more no available.

You will be directed to a whatsapp chat with them but still have human operator at Whatsapp after some merry go round.

Yup, my recent visit to ST shop and staff mentioned that ST Postpaid & Prepaid is handled directly.
Hi, GOMO etc. are all online/dealers/retailers

I just fell victim to this clause. My renewal is 4 days away but was not aware of this when I tried to port out. Promptly got rejected and received notifications from both Singtel Hi and my new telco.

This is an incredibly anti-consumer clause that goes against the spirit of mobile number portability, given that number porting typically takes only 1 business days and up to 3 business days in some cases. 7 business days is just ridiculous.

The excuse for doing so doesn’t even make sense, especially when almost all telcos require payment upfront before porting even begins. In my case I am essentially forfeiting a month’s plan at my new telco. Even the next worst offender Simba doesn’t stop you from porting out, they just charge you 4 days before your plan gets renewed.

I strongly encourage anyone who has been affected by this clause to submit feedback to IMDA for violation of the number portability guidelines.

sagu suggest it has already been strongly recommended here that any port-out out of a old telco to a new telco should only be activated the day after your current old contract ends 😎

Similar for Zym.

https://zym.sg/faq/port-in/
13. After I successfully ported in to ZYM, I feel that ZYM is not for me.
We understand that sometimes things don't work out as planned, and if you've given ZYM a chance and decided it's not the ideal match for you, we're here to help you move on.

You can terminate your plan and port out your number after 2 months, as per our Terms and Conditions (Minimal subscription for a non-contract plan is 2-month).

This is because we believe in giving our customers ample time to experience the ZYM difference before making a decision.

However, in case of exceptional circumstances that necessitate termination or porting out before the 2-month period, we may consider your request. Please be advised that any subscription fees paid upfront / roaming services utilisation are non-refundable / waiverable.
