hahaha but they stated no contract plan how come got timing for port out, weirdly in their T&C they mentioned in clearly Liao... maybe the business model is better for them.

CL's definition of "no contract"
https://circlesasiasupport.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003837793-What-does-No-contract-mean

What does 'No-contract' mean?

Unlike traditional telcos, we don't lock you in to two-year mobile plans. The minimum period you have to stay with us is only two months since our first bill immediately charge you for the first and second month, which gives you the freedom to try Circles.Life out. You should be able to schedule for termination as long as you pay your first bill with us.

If our services aren't meeting your mobile needs, you can cancel your plan after the minimum period. No fuss and no need to pull your hair out over two years because you're stuck in a contract with an unsatisfactory mobile plan.

What's even better, No-contract means you get to tweak your plan monthly, based on your mobile needs. We let your mobile plan grow with you and your changing needs.

sagu suggest porting in and out of telcos is not as simple as it sounds to consumers as they do involve some operational and administrative works and so the telcos require a minimum period of subscription for their no-contract plan to help cover of their costs, reasonable ? šŸ˜Ž

Is there a big difference in underground coverage between normal 5g+ ($20) and 5g+ enhanced plan ($30)?

Coverage (5G Signal) is the same but you may have higher priority if there are congestions.

So far I have not seen good reports showing that SingTel 5G+ Enhanced (eg: S$19.25 5G+ Enhanced Lite plan) is really better than normal 5G+ plan (eg: S$15.28 plan) for underground MRT stations from SingTel SIM Only thread.

SingTel hi! Postpaid plans now have the more expensive plans labeled as 5G+ Enhanced, similar to SingTel hi! Prepaid data plans.

You can always try it to see if the plan labeled as 5G+ Enhanced is really better or not, since there is no contract and you can switch between different plans with SingTel hi!.

Circles Life when i ported out both my parents line.. (they using for 2 years and 4 mths respectively) out and they even called to disable secureME. Got an email saying you can port out from today bla bla...

once ported out.. next mth got termination fee of 28 dollars for both lines. of course i noticed it and questioned how they trying to spook seniors? and they refunded. basically they will just charge and dun inform. this is unacceptable.

This 1800 482 2800 hotline

Singtel hicard - Can still easily talk to malaysian
Singtel hi - Cannot talk to anyone verbally, IVR will only redirect you to singtel.com/hichat then hangup

It is even worse when a number of the hi chat team pays lip service or worse stops replying after initial introduction.

If the package or price difference is minor, always choose Singtel main postpaid. I think OG hicard is no more

WARNING & BEWARE:

Hi all, not sure if this has been discussed before.
If you intend to travel to Japan, US (and some other countries that do not carry 3G network), know that you cannot receive/make calls/sms with your Singtel HiCard.

I learned it the hard way. Needed OTP for banking transactions, and calls from banks to verify status as transaction is done while overseas. I kanna stuck as I could not make/receive phone calls/sms. Never expected Singtel to be so restrictive with this HiCard program. I did not have any problem with my SIMBA card with calls/sms. Quite rediculous considering this is Singtel. How can they not highlight this in their brochures. I suppose it is hidden somewhere in their fine prints.

Take note what you say here is for Singtel hi! Prepaid Card without an active data plan, right? You may find similar information in the Prepaid thread.

This thread is about SIngtel hi! Postpaid plans. Currently the cheapest S$15 hi! plan will have 18GB Japan roaming data and you should have no issues to receive incoming roaming SMS (no support of incoming/outgoing roaming voice call or outgoing roaming SMS).

This is what I mentioned in the prepaid thread.

But for those who want to receive free roaming incoming SMS when overseas (eg: reside overseas for a long period), it may no longer work. As per the reports, you need roaming data, at least when using 4G LTE network overseas.

Indeed Singtel Prepaid Card is still a great option to maintain a phone number for local usage (say just to receive incoming SMS, and occasional voice calls), even with the occasional 6 cents leak, as you can use the S$3 IDD add-on to extend the validity by 180 days.

The only cheaper option for this use case is probably M1 Maxx free base plan (pay one time and the keep the number forever unless M1 changes the policy in the future).

But for those who want to receive free roaming incoming SMS when overseas (eg: reside overseas for a long period), it may no longer work. As per the reports, you need roaming data, at least when using 4G LTE network overseas.

But I am not sure if it is possible to receive free incoming SMS when you can connect to 3G or even 2G overseas mobile network. Need confirmation. This used to work at 3G time.

The other use case of Singtel Prepaid SIM is for those who just need data occasionally, say the user reside overseas most of the time and only come back to Singapore once or twice per year.

But in that case, Singtel hi! Postpaid S$15 5G plan is similar, with 150 days of grace period. StarHub Prepaid S$15 5G plan (or S$12 4G plan) has Grace period of 120 days.

M1 Maxx base plan is even better as the grace period is kind of unlimited as long as you use it occasionally every month.

And Singtel has removed many links to Singtel hi! Prepaid. That may cause confusions for many users.

SingTel is now promoting Singtel hi! Postpaid plans more than the Prepaid plans, even though both are said to be managed by the same team.

Many of the SingTel Prepaid links now go to Singtel hi! Postpaid website. That itself can cause confusions for users looking for information about the true SingTel Prepaid service.
https://www.singtel.com/personal/products-services/mobile/hi

SingTel hi! S$15 postpaid plan is very much similar to the SingTel hi! S$15 SIM Card and S$15 top-up plan now. That may cause further confusions.

SingTel hi! Postpaid plans have grace period of 150 days which makes it also usable for number retention purpose (top up S$15 every 180 days). During the grace period you can still receive free incoming calls and SMS.

1) SingTel hi! S$15/30days 5G plan

Local and roaming data
500GB 5G+ (Msia, Indo, Thai, HK, SG)

18GB APAC roaming + China + S. Korea + Japan (20 destinations)

8GB Worldwide roaming (60+ destinations)

Comes with
600 IDD mins (20+ destinations)
100 Myanmar mins
Unlimited local calls and SMS
Unused data, roaming & IDD roll over for up to 6 months
Auto renewal every 30 days

2) SingTel hi! Prepaid S$15 SIM Card and S$15 top-up plan have pretty similar benefits as above.

Check out Singtel 5G SGD15 hi Prepaid SIM Card (500GB Data for 28Days) (SIM Card to be registered within 7Days) for $15.00. Get it on Shopee now! https://sg.shp.ee/efXBazFL

Check out Singtel Data Package - 5G+ $15 Ultimate Plan at 2% off! $14.69 only. Get it on Shopee now! https://sg.shp.ee/QBN4Z7kV

Check out Singtel SGD11 hi Top-up for $11.00. Get it on Shopee now! https://sg.shp.ee/zdzeEMmB

Check out Singtel SGD8 hi Prepaid SIM Card (SIM Card to be registered within 7 days upon receival) at 2% off! $7.83 only. Get it on Shopee now! https://sg.shp.ee/2r9ywPyY

1. BTW, Lazada has the official "SingTel Prepaid Store" as well.

All in all, no matter Singtel hi! Postpaid, Singtel Gomo or Singtel hi! Prepaid, basically we need an active roaming data plan on in order to receive free incoming roaming SMS if you cannot access the legacy 3G network. If you have access to 3G network then you do not need to have active roaming data.

1. SingTel hi! Postpaid FAQ
https://www.singtel.com/personal/products-services/mobile/hi/faq

Access to calls and SMS while overseas.
You’ll be able to receive SMS overseas even without an active roaming plan — as long as the country you’re in still supports 3G. But you won’t be able to receive calls.

As hi! roaming plans are data-only, you won’t be able to send SMSes and make calls overseas as well.

2. Gomo FAQ.
https://www.gomo.sg/personal/faq

Can I access calls and SMS when roaming?
You’ll be able to receive SMS overseas even without an active roaming plan — as long as the country you’re in still supports 3G. But you won’t be able to receive calls.

As GOMO roaming plans are data-only, you won’t be able to send SMSes and make calls while overseas as well.

Singtel hi! pre or post paid also cannot use phone calls overseas. That's what their chatbot also said

1. Singtel hi! postpaid -- no roaming voice calls (incoming/outgoing).

But you can receive free incoming SMS messages with the roaming data plan when connected to 4G LTE network. I have tested this myself by sending SMS to my wife when she was using SIngtel hi! S$15 plan in China. She could receive the SMS in China but not able to reply the SMS.

2. Singtel hi! prepaid -- their current FAQ say they receive roaming voice calls and receive incoming roaming SMS when connect to 3G network.

So I beleieve it is right to say NO voice calls (incoming/outgoing) when connected to 4G LTE network.

But I believe you can still receive incoming SMS when connect to 4G LTE network with an active roaming data plan (need confimration).

3. Singtel hi! Prepaid FAQ for reference.

I believe Point 5) regarding incoming SMS may not be totally correct but need confirmation.
https://www.singtel.com/personal/support/prepaid-cards

Roaming (Traveling Overseas)

2) How can I make calls from my prepaid card while I am overseas?
Please buy and activate a hi!Dataroam pack and use your preferred mobile application to make and receive calls using your prepaid card while overseas.

Please note:

Availability of incoming calls while roaming is dependent on 3G network availability in the roaming country.
Outgoing roaming calls from overseas is not supported.

5) How can I send an SMS from my prepaid card while I am overseas?

To send and receive messages while roaming, you should buy and activate a roaming plan, and use your preferred mobile messaging app.

Please note:

  • Availability of incoming SMS while roaming is dependent on 3G network availability in the roaming country.
  • Outgoing roaming SMS from overseas is not supported.

Take note Singtel Gomo, Singtel hi! Postpaid and Starhub giga do not support Roaming incoming/outgoing voice calls or outgoing roaming SMS. They can still receive free incoming roaming SMS though.

The good thing about this is that you will not have bill shocks by receiving incoming roaming calls, unlike SIngtel and M1 MNO plans, or Zym/Zero1/VIVIFI/CMLink, where you pay high pay-per-use roaming voice call charges.

Zym now has 10 minutes roam guard free incoming roaming voice messages to help the situation.

Of course eight is better in this aspect that you have free incoming/outgoing voice messages.
