The "SingTel Mesh Router" name is really misleading, especially true when SingTel does not offer the so called "extender".

Last time the AC1900 is a lame name for a router but indeed it is rated at AC1900. Then they change the name of AC 1900 to AC Elite. After that they choose to downgrade the bundled router to AC Plus which is rated as AC1200.

All these routers are from Arcadyan.

Previously SingTel Fibre broadband bundled routers were from Aztech (7000, 7003 and 7009). Before Aztech it was Pace, before Pace it was 2-wire (acquired by Pace in 2010). Pace was acquired by Arris in 2016.

Singtel customized mesh solution come from Airties and Askey. They also support Samsung Connect Home and Netgear Orbi. But then the mesh solution has nothing to do with the "Singtel Mesh Router (Consumer)" in this thread.

Just set it up as the main router (turning off my existing Linksys WRT1900AC and set up the two SSIDs and password to be the same as the existing WRT1900AC SSIDs). Let's how long I will keep using it. Last one was SingTel AC Plus in Sept 2018 and it was bad so I did not use it for long.

BTW, I am using ONT and I have SingTel TV box. Setup is very fast as vlan is built-in (so again can not be used by other ISP as the main router, probably works as an AP like the AC Plus).

Features are limited but better than my Huawei AX3 Pro. Openvpn Server and Client are provided. USB port is also provided. DDNS got three providers. URL filtering is also available -- these features are better than Huawei AX3 Pro (and probably Xiaomi AX3600/AX1800 and Redmi AX6/AX5).

5GHz coverage is so-so. 2.4GHz coverage seems to be pretty good.

I am still using the AX3 Pro as an AP. Close range speed using WiFi 5 client shows AX3 Pro is quite a bit faster than the SingTel free router in the 5GHz band.

S$49.9 with rebate to get S$39.9, same as my previous contract.

I am under SingTel Circle and this is said to be a targeted offer from SingTel as per the online sales people. I may have missed the email or letter for the recontract offer but luckily they still gave me the same offer. Initially the online support guy also told me that they did not have better offer than S$44.9.

yay. wrote online and told me the best offer is $44.90. I have been with singtel for 30 years since dial up. super disgusted by singtel to disregard loyal customers.

confirm jump ship when my contract ends in November.

wrote to their website to feedback and their head of marketing.

previously they removed my singnet email and also 10gb storage already very frustrated with them. unilateral removed despite it is in my contract. wrote a few emails to them and imda. responded with the typical bureaucratic response.... as good as no answer. basically encourage me to switch service providers.

if not for their network stability as compared to others, think most people will jump ship.

totally has no regards to their existing customers. think I will write to ST forum to wake them up.

Try WhatApp SingTel Sales department. They may be able to help. Or go down to a SingTel shop.

Usually I will go to the shop but the queue was long. So I have gone through a few loops.

1) MySingtel App, not so useful but in the end they point me to Singtel WhatsApp.

2) WhatsApp SingTel Support, again a few rounds but luckily finally got a good sales guy who checked the history and told me they have sent me a recontract offer. I told him I may have misplaced the offer but I would be glad to recontract with or without a router at S$39.9 per month. Then he told me I would still get a free router this time. So better than I expected and I happily recontract. No impact to my internet at all, still using the old ONT and existing 3rd party router.

But I would usually test the free SingTel router for a few days to see how good or how bad it is.

Speedtest results are decent at close range.

3*3 wifi client -- I only have one so-called AC1900 client which is TP-Link T9UH USB adapter, previously it has not been able to hit above 400Mbps with my WRT-1900AC (note: no support of MU-MIMO).

Now I got higher than 500Mbps download speed, with PT Indosat TBK test server.

Testing resilt using my Huawei P20 phone is also not bad.

My Huawei AX3 Pro router is still a bit faster for the Huawei P20 which is a 2*2 AC client.

It is so far so good in terms of stability as the main router during the first two days of usage. This is better than SingTel AC Plus.

Usually we will have about 14-20 devices connected to the home network at the same time (not counting some network device which are switched on very occasionally like my Raspberry Pi boards and Orange Pi boards). Some of them will go through the AP though (Huawei AX3 Pro). And usually only 6 to 10 devices are actively using the internet and the others are mainly idle.

Using the SingTel Mesh as the main router and Huawei AX3 Pro as AP for two weeks, so far so good.

New test results with my Huawei P20, again using PT Indosat TBK SpeedTest server.

They attach a sim card with the box. What's that for?

Which box? I do not have any SIM card.

Or are you a new subscriber? In that case you get a free 500MB 4G data sim. You can ignore it if you do not need it. The charge is quite a bit if you exceed the quota of 500MB.

I have a question. My old Singnet plan is the ExStream services where my router is Asus RT-AC87U. Just last week, I recontract to $39.90/mth offer and now my Asus cannot connect to internet. I called up Singtel and said have to use their Singtel Mesh Router in order to work properly.

Is this true ? If like this, my Asus router can retire liao.

I assume you are using ONT.

Do you need to set up VLAN on your RT-AC87U for your ExTream plan? Looks like your plan is similar to the Unlimited plan without the need for VLAN.

For the normal 1Gbps plan, you need to set up SingTel VLAN profile. Please follow the following guide from Asus.

This singtel mesh router like decent enough but tempted to try TP-Link Archer AX10 ax1500 for my Singtel 1gb connection.

The TP link router can get for like $82. Backside or hand itchy.

Is it worth the trouble to change? Small house, dun have issue with coverage around the house currently with singtel router. So worth to try?
Also got TV, need configure from router I think.

I will say not worth trying the AX10 router if you are fine with the SingTel Mesh Router. The performance of the AX10 will not really be much better.

You may want to go for higher end AX router next year.

Thanks. I think it only looks fiercer with all the antenna sticking up.

Yes it can be used with SingTel ONT, plug and play, VLAN is already built-in and can not be disabled (can not be used with other ISP as the main router).

It also works with SingTel ONR as a wireless AP.
