Hi, has anyone terminated SingTel TV lately? What’s the process like these days? Do we have to call 1688 before returning the equipment? Thanks.

Yes need to call them fast and let them know. They will then tell u to bring the remote, set top box and power adapter to designated SingTel retail shops..

Dear Singtel

Hi, my Singtel installation took place on the 14th dec 2017.
I had switched from starhub to Singtel. Till date, I was advised not to return my starhub settop box until the Home number from starhub internet gets ported over to Singtel. However, it has been one week and my fibre home line is still not activated. While Singtel had given me a temp Home Line, I wanted my previous Home Line number as written in my agreement. Why is there such a delay? Now I am stuck with two providers while I cannot cancel starhub subscription due to this delay even though I do not use any of the starhub service.
Called ur call centre also no update given. The technician who did the installation informed that once Singtel gets the number released from starhub, they will do the switch automatically latest by 18th. This has NOT happened

Terminated subscription at Causeway Point. Relatively painless. Go straight to Counter 10.

Hi guys, my current Singtel TV pan based on my Bill has

1) 12 Months Jingxuan Starter Promo @5.61 (ending on 17 Jan 19 according to CSO)
2) 24 Months Jingxuan Value @ $72.80 ( ending on Aug 19 according to CSO)
3) DVR Set-TOP Box rental Promo Rate ending 17 Jan 19 @ $4.58

I called 1688 to check on the termination penalty , turns out the termination penalty is the rest of subscription fee ~1.2K...

Is this the norm? Then I terminate for what since have to pay same amount regardless..
Terminating cos no longer watch then every month paying $80+ for service I never use

Termination is a violation of contract you signed, so it will never be cheap..

I understand the termination fee is necessary. But for the amount to be calculated based on the remaining months, isn't that the same as not terminating?

Just want to confirm this is the standard for SingTel TV.

Nobody regulates the early termination so SingTel can do whatever they like. If you still have your sign up document check what is written inside. But usually the will use left over month as the fee to pay.

Subscription fee per month x left months = your termination fee

So u might as well continue.

My point exactly, if the termination fee is same as remaining sub fees , then no point to terminate..

i don't think the cost for terminating is the same as subscribing through the months. termination fee should be higher than what you subscribing through the remaining months to deter people from subscribing.

this is not just singtel, all telcos/service providers in SG do the same. Its impossible to terminate without paying more in fact..

There do have some reasons for having termination fees applicable should the subscribed channels are terminated before expiry.

Considering the fact that once you subscribed to the Channels, the Provider may has to inform on the Content Provider on having additional subscribers.
As most likely there are royalty fees applicable for each subscriber which Content Provider is entitled to.

There do have Channels which are standalone without any contract period.

This is the same for having to subscribe to Broadband plans.
The upfront cost is there but most likely are absorbed into as contract period.
Same theory as why ISP can absorbed startup cost for setting up Fibre Broadband for customers, example.
All basic and necessary cost are built into the package offer, inclusive of free goodies and extra.

Sorry for this stupid question
I called SingTel today And they acknowledged the termination
Like u mentioned they ask me to bring those relevant things to return

My question is must I bring those things to return today or is there any time duration like within one week to return upon calling SingTel for termination?

Thks a lot :)
