Hi, I'm new to the whole system and I got my results saying:

We regret to inform that your application for a 4-room flat in Bukit Merah has not been successful.

May I know what does this mean? Because the reply is so different from his... Does this mean that I messed up my application somewhere? I didn't apply for any schemes at all except of course the fiancé/fiancée one.

Someone please enlighten me. I'm devestated as I really love the area

It just means you wasn't even issued with a queue number. First time apply always have high hopes to get something. A few more rejections (which is common) and you will be fine.

Try again next time.

I see.. At least I know I didn't do sth wrong that messed up my application, like giving missing/incorrect information or sth.

Anyway is it true that u get a higher/better chance at getting a queue number if you're a civil servant or/and voted for PAP? Or is that just a rumor? Lol

I vote for opposition and got 26 on my first attempt at bto..u choose those high demand already of cos lower probability.. U try sembawang see can get or not

This is perfectly untrue. i voted oppo and i got it first try.

Anyway if u vote PAP just bcos u r scared u cannot ballot BTO, then u r really DAFT sinkey. u would be deem the root cause of all the social problems we face today: high cost living, massive influx, high cost property, low social safety net --> all of these come from your fault . Notice i dun blame PAP on this, nor do i blame foreigners on this.

Usually drop out will be high so I think got hope. Most ppl aim a few specific units nia.

If they got around 500 flats for sobf in an area, how long the whole selection takes if start from oct16?

That's true, but I think really depends on luck. I have BTO-ed and SOBF a few times, even for non mature estate but I have never gotten a number (not even a big number out of queue). Both of us are first timers and if I'm not wrong we had MCPS for 3 times. So it's really down to luck!

Best is if you have kids, should have more priority.

He mention he needs a drop out rate of 50% inorder to have a shot, not saying the usual drop out rate is 50%..
