I missed UB! The clubbing scene is fantastic! Have fun there! Be careful though!

I couldn't get the bus ticket from UB to Ulan Ude and decided to skip Ulan Ude and take the train from UB to Irkutsk instead.

FINALLY! I'm leaving UB!

Border crossing (Mongolia/Russia) took 5 hours! We aren't allowed to use the toilets nor get off the train!

When all checks have been done, we are allowed off the train for about an hour! Fresh air and toilet! But it's freezing cold!

Yup! My cold doesn't seem to be getting better. Gonna 'rest' for a few days, heading to Olkhon for 3 days before getting onto the train for another 3 days!

I dated a mongolian girl briefly. The UB urban folks are quite well to do!

zehzeh, me is planning a trip. planning to go from yunnan area, go up Mongolia, go into former soviet bloc in central asia, up into russia, take the trans siberian railway back into china. then go up japan and korea then lastly taiwan. any advice for my big trip?

Haha! I know what you mean! I've been planning this trip for years but didn't materialize till now! It was more of a 'rash' decision to do it (though I have been doing research for quite a while). Quit my job, packed my bag and left!
