Just tested at the STEREO shop with Huawei Mate 20X. Initially it connects using LDAC then for some reason it connects using SBC. After that can select but cannot revert to LDAC.

I guess the reason lies here

Sound-wise it's rather flat as compared to the B&O H9i. The SONY ANC, its comfort and controls are much better than the H9i though

It is probably the settings on either the phone or the pair of headphones (assuming someone used the headphone application and changed the settings)

Consumers have long been acclimatised to products that are EQ-ed to that of "musical" that neutral sounding headphones have become "flat". In that case, you can tune the eq to your own preference.

I'm the one using the headphone then.

I used the app and set to Treble Boost but to no avail because the BT codec has changed to SBC. Can't change back to LDAC

well i can't pinpoint why you couldn't, but for the app, some of the settings if enabled will change the bt codec to SBC. the LDAC codec will only be used if you listening to it with no changes except for ambient sound/NC

Just to complete the picture. I unpaired the SONY headphone from my Huawei Mate 20X, reset my Huawei and re-pair to SONY but stii codec doesn't change to LDAC but remains as SBC

However, tested the BOSE and it showed AAC

So, cannot be so many Sony headphones got problem. Must be something wrong with Huawei's LDAC Bluetooth codec

The app is required because that is only way to update firmware as well as provide customisation and optimisation capabilities

So, cannot be so many Sony headphones got problem. Must be something wrong with Huawei's LDAC Bluetooth codec

Even if you open developer option and manually change to ldac?

I got mine at 511 at sony centre bugis junction.. i think it went as low as 460 during sale? Or was it 490?

I saw the $389 one too but I was wondering if the voice assistant would be in chinese (apparently theres an issue where language cannot be changed), and the 1000XM2 reviews from the same seller say that the VA is in chinese. do you guys think the M3 will be in english?

Thanks! Manage to get it for S$424.10. They do not have black colour in Qoo10 (but actually they do, I've contacted via their live chat) but you can still get it, just contact their live chat for details.

I decided to play safe and pay $55.10 more for the local Sony warranty. If need send back to them (Hong Kong) I think it is very troublesome. Granted most of my electronics bought from Amazon is not spoilt yet and the warranty length of the headphones is only 1 year, still I think the bit of price premium is quite decent with the Qoo10 discounts for now..
