Since the A6000 can customize the buttons here are some recommended settings.

OK why the kit lens is good enough for you.

Don't go into GAS with the A6000. Let the kit lens help you see what kind of shooter you are.

To tell you the truth, when traveling, I only carry the kit lens.

A6000: Evf, size, hotshoe and can take up to 11fps.

A5100: Can take selfie

Size is the most crucial one imo...the a5100 is really small and you may not like the grip.

The technology behind both cameras are the same - so those salesmen that tell you a6000 picture better...talking rubbish

I think there's a smile shutter in which can do auto capture when u smile

Can anyone recommend a lens to replace the kit lens?
I am fine with the kit lens but I've seen pictures where vignetting occurs at the edges of pictures and that's quite a no-no for me.
Is there any way to avoid this if I purchase the kit lens?
Interested in buying this compact cam for travelling in majority of the 2nd half of the year and don't want to carry a DSLR around.

Wide zooms are never cheap. That's why a manual prime is a good consideration. I shoot landscapes, the auto focus is more of a convenience rather than a requirement. At dusk or dawn, the auto focus dun work properly anyway.
