Does Giga have pay-as-you-use IDD calls without purchasing a monthly IDD pack? The Gino chatbot says yes but I can't seem to verify it with other AI tools or via the FAQ.

For my use case I only need to call my overseas relative for 2-3 mins per month and they don't know how to use whatsapp/telegram (thus need IDD).

3.13. IDD pack:

3.13.1. IDD means International Direct Dialling calls.

3.13.2. You can purchase IDD pack at any time via the App or our website.

3.13.3. The IDD pack comes with $5 credit per pack for usage. You can sign up for a new $5 pack to instantly top up your IDD credits at any time via the App or our website.

3.13.4. You can sign up for IDD pack multiple times. However each sign-up will be valid and aligned to your current renewal cycle.

3.13.5. There are 234 supported destinations for IDD calls. The IDD rates can be referred to via the App or our website. IDD rates can be updated anytime without prior notice or liability.

3.13.6. IDD usage and charge are rounded up to the nearest minute.

3.13.7. Payment for IDD pack is made at the point of purchase. You will need to select one of the available payment options.


3.16. Usage: You will not get bill shocks for the Services as we will not charge you beyond what you have subscribed and paid for. No excess charges will be charged. All data, outgoing minutes, outgoing SMS and IDD calls will stop upon full utilisation. You will not be able to use excess data, outgoing minutes, outgoing SMS and IDD calls above and beyond what you have subscribed and paid for. You will, however, continue to receive incoming minutes and incoming SMS as they are free.

A workaround is to rotate the iPhone to landscape mode and the 4G section will appear.

it did work (both in portrait and landscape). took very long - about 30 seconds! - to appear after i tapped on it with my iphone 15.

Do I need to activate anything on my phone or inform Giga to activate once I reach my destination in JB?

I’m afraid if go there then emergency cannot use.

All GIGA plans now comes with a min 2GB asia roaming now. Check your status in the app

No, you don't have to inform them. Do make sure "Data Roaming" is enabled on your phone.

Not sure if it is still prevalent these days, but for GIGA you may have to manually select MY roaming partner uMobile or Maxis manually. Better to just keep a screenshot of the FAQ just in case.
