TPG SIMBA is not a MVNO. TPG SIMBA use their own 4G network, and they don't have 3G network to fall back to, since they didn't deploy any 3G towers. They are a MNO. Hence the VoLTE requirement.

If im not wrong, you can make VoLTE calls with SIMBA overseas, free of charge, if you are calling back to Singapore. If you call overseas numbers, IDD rates still apply.

Other telcos MVNOs either disable overseas calls or charge pay per use.
so do I need to on the data associated with Simba in order to make or received call while oversea?

sorry I am a real novice on how these MVNO or MNO service provider work on making call while oversea

thx !

Hi all,
Just want to seek some clarification and correct me if I am wrong

Giga just like Gomo , Simba, Maxx are considered as MNVO and the Voice call is actually via the VOLTE
aka voice call is done via data communication...

so if I were to buy an e-sim for data purpose during oversea travel, can i still receive or or make voice call tagging to the e-sim data? The assumption is that I don't want to use the data autoroam plan given by the MNVO,,,

TIA for all responses !
Roaming talk time is always separate from roaming data and are independent of one another. If your service provider supports pay as you roam/use for roaming talk time, you will still be able to make calls when overseas even with data roaming turned off in your phone settings. And like what @crystalnox mentioned, even if VoLTE (roaming) calls are supported and uses 4G packets, it does not depend on bundled roaming data.

For giga, there is no talk time roaming pack that you can buy, only data roaming pack. There is also no pay as you roam/use for talk time roaming.

3.13 gigaRoam pass Asia Pacific ("APAC") and rest of the world ("ROTW") :
3.13.1 You can sign up for gigaRoam pass if you intend to use data overseas. You cannot use voice (including but not limited to outgoing and incoming voice calls and outgoing SMS) overseas. Incoming SMS that you may get overseas is free.

i was overseas recently and was unable to call and receive calls. anyone knows what could be the problem?
i did not subscribe to the data plan if there is a link.

/edit: just realised giga does not support voice roaming. somehow had the impression that i received calls before when i was overseas.
