Some questions

- Have you checked if the countries you are heading to is included in the list for either ASIA or International?
- Any intention to use normal phone calling instead of data calling in whatsapp / wechat / line / telegram?

Have you tried to calculate the cost and "effort" to instead purchase roaming esims / sim cards from providers for each country that you are heading to?
- Local telco
- middleman on shopee / lazada / klook / changireccomend and more...

The 6 months plan is a upfront purchase of 6 months worth of entitlement. Assuming that you are looking at the roaming data on maybe the 3TB plan, your 66GB asia roaming and 48 GB intl roaming will only reset during renewal.
I'm more interested in the international roaming coverage and have no intentional to make any mobile calls (I don't pick up calls from unknown numbers also).

The 6-months plan's data (including roaming) can be rolled over for 1 billing cycle so it is more flexible for me as my roaming data consumption is erratic; some months 0 roaming data and then suddenly 20+ Gb the next month.

I tried using Simba previously but the SIM (both physical card & esim) kept prompting me to enter the SIM pin whenever there's low or no signal. It's a minor inconvenience BUT I don't get push emails if I don't check my phone regularly in case of SIM disconnect & needing to input the pin to reconnect. Zero1 doesn't have this issue at all.

Hmm don't think so. I'm using Samsung S23 Ultra and "Lock SIM card" is active. The weird behavior only affects Simba, no issues with other brands/countries SIM cards.

Then i think you are the perfect user for this 6 months plan then, with the flexiblility of rollover and 6 months worth of data upfront that can be use

However assuming the 20GB+ is on the international roaming, i personally would still have some data anxiety even if i was on the 6TB plan. But that's just my view

Because Giga users are digitally savvy enough to have a second line to switch over when things get too laggy.

They just anyhow classified Giga cos it is neither here nor there. Actually Eight is the Value Seekers + Digitally Savvy. Giga - No category. 😂

I think the following may happen in the future, say by 2028.
1) giga gets absorbed by eight, or just go away. The travel eSIM business can go back to Starhub.
2) Starhub may want to buy MyRepublic Mobile as well.

Let's see if the above will happen or not.

As a MR user of 1 year, if SH does buy over MR mobile, i really wonder where their position will be. As a Giga replacement?

their plans kinda fight with SH, their roaming lose vs eight.
if SH deprioritises them wrt SH plans, then they lose out, as they are more expensive than eight and lack both the roaming advantage and "value".

anyway, at this stage it's all conjecture. See what SH/MR announce going forward.
maybe there's a reason why SH didn't buy the mobile operations.

Agree, just a guess from my side. Let's see how the MVNOs landscape evolve in the coming years.

Hi all I'm thinking of getting Giga! 6-months plan solely for roaming use (already have Zero1 as my main line). I travel for extended period out of Singapore so local coverage not so important to me. Are there any specific issues I should be concerned about before committing to 6 months plan? Thanks
ayo. other than it being 6 months, i think their 6 months plan has 1 benefit which other telcos don't have. which is they give you all the roaming and data when you sign up. so you can slowly plan and use how much roaming u need over the time u are overseas. I havent' seen such a feature in other telcos, their roaming usually refresh every month
