Is it just me on the iPhone 4, as far as wifi throughout is concerned, that channels 5 to 8 yield the best performance where downlink > uplink.

If I may elaborate, the speedtest defaulted with News Media Express will yield uplink rather consistently at 20 Mbps. Channels 5 to 8 will typically achieve 25 Mbps downlink, hence downlink > uplink. Other channels above/below 5 to 8 will yield equal downlink performance or lower and also throughput performance penalty is much more sensitive to distance once out of the channels 5 to 8.

Test is performed on 20m bandwidth. I've noticed poorer performance on both 40m bandwidths. Router is the Dlink N5402SP. WPA2 AES. B/G/N.
Hmmm... Once on Mixed B/G/N mode, most router's performance drop tremendously.

Highly recommends either pure N mode or at the most mixed G/N mode.

And for your info, the speedtest app for iOS platform has limitation. It isn't designed for accurate testing of fast broadband like FTTH connection. It's designed for 3G and 3.5G mobile network. Notice the cap at 20Mbps on the speedtest app GUI?

Yes I see your point there now that I've noticed the 20Mbps redline which wasn't apparent to me previously. Thanks for the tip! FWIW, top download speed ever on the iPhone app was 27 Mbps in my historical log. Tried both N only and mixed G/N but that did not make any further difference. Forced a B only for the sake of testing and indeed there was a difference at 5Mbps.

I've a netbook on built in G wifi card and it's capped about the same ceiling speed as the iPhone. Since I couldn't recall what my previous Dlink DIR300 G-only router was capable of(and considering that I was also then on 16Mbps Cable), I couldn't say for sure that there is some performance limitation on the N5402SP router. But seeing other reviews of the Huawei router, I'm not really gonna complaint.

So out of curiosity, what's the peak bandwidth are others transmitting at on wifi mode via the N5402SP router?

Your Icommonphone is not built for the performance of handling so much data
You wan throughput shld consider better phones like the Nexus

Get a wireless N adapter for your netbook, either with a usb adapter or replace the internal wifi card

too far ._. and i need to cover two area wifi also...
dlink can reach but real weak since its too far and screening issue therefore sometimes will drop...

and i got a total of 5 pc and 4 laptops... 3 are using lan only...

My problems still remain as worst! Dunno wat to do...

Is it to plug direct is the yellow cable to my laptop? But if plug yellow cable then totally cannt connect to Internet. So is it star hub issue? I tried with 2 laptop.

Now I speed test on wireless is only 30+MBPS in living room less than 1m from router. I signed up for fibre 100MBPS though...

DLink already guided me whole nite yesterday to try also...Very frustrating nw!

wireless can have alot of factors

distance can be one... your wireless card is another factor we have no head and tail details hence it is difficult for us to advise.

plug yellow cable from what to what? No, since you are able to get internet connection with wireless, it is NOT Starhub issue~

since you have lots of issues - why not engage professional services to help you instead of being frustrated?

how about ask nicely here :)

a screen shot of your desktop with the network adapter task visible would be nice :) also your ipconfig /all.

able to access 192.168.0.1??

and yellow is just a colour, can go outside buy longer one. cat5e is fine :)

all 4 ports having same issue?

Now I speed test on wireless is only 30+MBPS in living room less than 1m from router. I signed up for fibre 100MBPS though...

well if you dont understand can always ask friends :)

frustration and crying helps nothing, $53.50 would if you willing to pay SH on this simple setup but... don't later ask ppl get down there set up already dont pay :/ technician also need to eat one.

30MBPS is very good... infact not reachable i believe for your wifi equipment.
30Mbps+ is reachable and its common among most devices via wifi depending on device :) even temperature can affect the performance.

up to 100Mbps is not the wifi bandwidth... is the bandwidth which SH provide for your HG to share around.

the person who told you it is a "starhub" issue are just trying to push the blame off himself (based on ur description).

but a separate print server, however the cost will be expensive though.
