if i connect another router to the SH DLink RG ,
how will it prevent the dropping of wireless signal?

actually how come the wireless for the SH DLink is so unstable? i keep having the need to power on and off the router and modem...

First setup your previous router to be a ACCESS point mode
Lastly, disable wireless on SH DLINK RG & connect to the access point mode

Starhub - Online

Wireless Via default Dlink RG from SH 802N ONLY & DEFAULT CONFIG from SH Technician 1m away

Upload Speed: 37135 kbps (4641.9 KB/sec transfer rate)

Wired:
Download Speed: 99758 kbps (12469.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 43909 kbps (5488.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

FYI i'm on Maxinifinity 100mbps. Macbook Pro network utility indicates Link speed 144mbps.

Comments. I'll never get 100mbps as advertised as i do wireless only, but it should accommodate multiple 802N users at one time without slow downs.. i hope.

You are lucky to be able to get 57Mbps wirelessly with just the Dlink 2.4Ghz network liaoz..:s13:

Just to share the results of my configuration below :-

Dlink (2.4Ghz "N") to iMac (Wireless)

Dlink => AEBS (5Ghz "N") to iMac (Wireless)

Hi all

I've tried the search function. Am unable to get a result on my questions.

For those who converted from Maxonline Cable Premium to Maxinfinity Ultimate, how was the experience for

1. Youtube
2. Dailymotion
3. Youku
4. Facebook VIDEO
5. Qvod
6. Filesharing (Filesonic, Dropbox, Box.net)
7. If you do Ubuntu Linux updates (How much faster?)

Cable Maxpremium Intl speed is 18 Mbps
Infinity Ultimate Intl Speed is 15 Mbps

Traffic wise, downloads more than uploads.

Connection is shared with 2 users.

Has the switch made your experience with the following (1-6) faster during peak hours?

After all we are limited by international speeds unless we switch to Viewqwest, which is difficult for me as I have 3 mobile lines, TV, voice, mobile bb all with Starhub.

If theres not much difference, then I might just stick with cable. $68.27 vs $56.92 and not be on contract since it ran out in december.

Hahaha..that's good to know cos I've never been able to hit pass 50Mbps with 2 sets of Dlink and the SH tech spending hrs to diagnose with different settings. Usually hit between 30-40+Mbps.

When the SH techs starts with all their usual stories, I'd just showed them the results of my bridged connection to my old trusty 2nd gen AEBS, all jaw drop...:s13::s13::s13:

Just wondering if anyone interested to use a Smart Switch to separate the VLAN on the ONT such that you can purely use your own router for internet and then the issued RG for voice only? No more RG nonsense even if you have VOIP plan.

I can help you setup at no cost because I am personally researching on the settings for my own knowledge. Only catch is i would like to configure this on a Routerboard 250GS smart switch , it's the ideal choice anyway.

PM me if you're keen alright! it will eventually go a long way to help everyone on Starhub .

Technican left half an hour ago!

Yay! Finally using fiber optics :D

Some obvious difference between the D-link RG and my old DIR-615:

1) No log functionality on the RG. -.-
2) No notification if setting has been changed, unlike 615

Have anyone enabled the Enable Attack Prevent under Advanced Settings? I wonder if its useful as it prevent DOS attacks.

My firmware version is SH_1.00B043. Is it the latest?

Some speed test:

MaxInfinity Ultimate

Wired.

Wireless. 1-2m away. iPhone 4.

Good to see that you are happy with the results.;)

I had the "Attack Prevent" enabled as a precautionary measure, see not harm to enable it.:D

Firmware version is SH_1.00B043 is the latest but we know that there's a ver.45 that they are testing..;)

Thanks Winston.

On a separate note, does anyone have issue connecting Samsung Galaxy S II to the RG's wifi network when WPA2-only Personal security is set with AES encryption(cant select TKIP)? Wireless was set to N-only too.

It was unable to connect to the network but an iPhone 4 had no issue.

When i changed wireless band to G/N and changed the security to WPA/WPA2 mixed personal and both TKIP/AES encryption, the Samsung phone was finally able to connect.
