hi guys,

am using homehub 500 and upgraded to an asus ac68u. initally was using the dir-868l but it's super horrible. so much more worst than singtel's modem. anyway, the ac68u is pretty good, however sometimes i experience a "lag" in connection, whereby i am connected to the wifi but there is no internet. it comes back up probably in about 30s-1min or so, sometimes even longer, depending. my other family members have also experienced this before. no issue on wired connection. using asus official firmware, but i dont think it's the latest one.

was wondering if knows how to resolve this occasion intermittent drop? thanks!
Is the SSID the same? Forget this network and then reconnect on the devices after resetting both the modem and router. Better?
If not at router setting limit broadcast to 1 band only etc 2.4Ghz. Better? And if all devices new use only ac or g only.
If all these still no good. Update firmware and test again. Still no good will be RMA. Keep router away from the DECT phone too.

very unstable. even their user interface is not very friendly. connection keeps dropping. ended up getting ac68u few days later.
I feel the Wi-Fi don't penetrate too far especially if many walls.

Mine dir686 connection is terrible on both wireless and LAN. Keep disconnecting and page loading is worst than my phone 4G data.
Any idea how to config? Changed to google dns does not help.

1st Perform a "Restore Factory Default"
dfwuav.png

-after the router rebooted, just click next all the way.
-if prompt you to enter a password for your router, pls enter a strong password.

Then secure your router by following the steps here : http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/i...ic-4/secure-your-router-dir-868l-5499216.html

Lastly configure your wireless settings to your preferred config.

Better call starhub and they will do some resetting on their end and your connection will be better after that. This happens to me once in every 2 or months.

After reset seems same. YouTube keep stop loading and web page loading slow still. Using my 4g is really fast.
LOL StarHub tech support ask me to switch the autozoning to other channel but still no hope...calling them again to reset at their end.

Did you also perform the part on the securing the router ?

I did that and resolve my intermitten connection on both wired and wireless and lag spike resolved by itself.

The autozoning is only required if you are using another dlink device as AP. It will become 1 network instead of 2.

After technician helps to reset at their end. Same problem.
Gosh....i need to back to broadband instead of this crappy fibre. Since day one always having problems and this weekend the worst. Asked technician come down and they said if not StarHub issue then need to charge me. Cmi their term what is not StarHub issue. User issue then?!

At the setup page
DYNAMIC IP (DHCP) INTERNET CONNECTION TYPE
The primary DNS is
208.67.220.123
Is this causing problem?

have you perform a direct connection from pc to ont directly ?
just one cable between both device. no other adapters in between.

direct connection no issue.
Just call dlink and problem seems resolved.
What I did is set pri and optional DNS then closed mac address and off on modem and router.
Everything works good now.

I don't know that for Starhub you need to set Primary and Secondary DNS and clone Mac Address In order to work. As for M1, I need not set all this in order to work.

So, which firmware are you working with?

Did DLINK explain what's the rationale for cloning MAC address?

btw, is your DNS relay box checked? If checked, you can try uncheck the box, remove the hard-code information that DLINK asked you to do. See if it helps

Where can I buy the optical fibre cable that's used? I kinda want a shorter cable than the 3m that's provided. :o
