Hi, what kinda waiting time of 1-2 months after signing up? Does this means if I call starhub to signup now, still got to wait 1-2 months before can use the fibre?
Thanks.

Yes. The waiting time is for availability and installation of the ONT device. Exact period depends on backlog and individual because the appointment that you are assigned are unconfirmed and subject to further delays.

Just call SH to check. Don't forget that IT show coming and who knows how much longer you might have to wait with the amount of "new" fiber subscribers..;););)

Hi hope can get help here. Just signed on StarHub fibre 100 mbps. Provided ONT and Dlink DVG-N5402SP. Did not think through during installation and the router is now downstairs while 2 PCs and laptop are used mostly upstairs. LAN connection getting 94 mbps but once wifi with laptop next to router dropped to 22 mbps. Upstairs dropped to only 6 mbps. Bot a Aztech repeater thinking it would help. It boosted the wifi signal from fair to excellent but speed even worst without repeater as it dropped to 3/4 mbps. Called Dlink and changed some settings boosted to 28 mbps next to router. Still low upstairs. Called Aztech. Just asked me to upgrade firmware. Did not even boost speed at all. Driving me nuts as my son's pc which used to get 70 mbps on cable (modem was fixed upstairs) n now it cant even get pass 10. Can any one help me? Do not hope to run cables all over the house to get improved signals. Oh, thought of homeplugs but due to differerent phases, cannot be done. Tks in advance.

buying a repeater is definitely a wrong move.

you ought to do a proper research before buying anything but since you have no other options i can understand why you chase a repeater.

probably a secondary ap if possible budden again, you will need to at least pull 1 rj45.

2 options:

1) Redo fiber optic installation. Call up Opennet and ask them to route Termination Point to the upper floor.

2) Do concealment of cat6 patch cable if your home comes with false ceiling.

If don't wanna run cable, you can try :-

1) Borrow a good router with strong antenna from someone, bridge it to Dlink to see how's the signal.

2) Wireless bridging(might be expensive)

I just contracted on fibre an hour ago. The earliest slot now is 31st March.

Starhub Technican came to swap the Dlink router and reconfigured the network too.

Starhub D Link router -> 3rd party router(it's LAN port, not WAN)

On Starhub Dlink router : DHCP enabled, no DMZ enabled.

On 3rd party router: Internet connection type: DHCP. Built in DHCP disabled.

Both share same wireless SSID and have different IP address for accessing settings.
I can access the internet with both router so this seem to be an alternative setting too.

In this way, can I still use my own router and to have the VOIP managed by the Dlink?

i remember last time Digital Life has a comparison on different ISP's 100M Fiber broadband plan, Starhub's 100M plan (called "MaxInfinity Ultimate" I think) won the editor choice in the end.

Is it still valid?

Actually not possible to say it is valid now, as there are 3 new RSPs not accounted for...

can anyone tell me the`Register' LED on your dlink gateway is lighted up solid or blinking? Mine is blinking continuously and I always faced page errors when surfing. The manual says the LED will flash if not connected to a service provider. thanks

Mine is always blinking and I am able to surf the net, but according to SH, this LED should be solid and not blinking. So far mine is flashing for almost 1 month.

Anyone have any comment?
