I see.

Drop my idea then.

Thanks, bro!

The mileage might be different for everyone like wireless.

Some people use 1 router to get the job done for wireless whereas others might require 2 or more to have the same coverage.

Look at page 1 on the results yield for home plugs.

If you are staying in a relatively new apartment, your electrical wirings should be good enough. If too old, chances are home plugs might not be the optimal choice.

Home plug is good if yr power socket is stand alone and not have other plugs connected and sharing the power source. If not speed is affected. Go get wifi use 5ghz bandwidth... It's good enuff

What router are you using? QoS it.

Dlink provided ny StarHub, no QoS!

I don't mind a freeware or payware coz need to restrict someone at home taking up too much wireless bandwidth...hehe.

I wanna control it by Mac ID.

Who is managing the DHCP server? Your router?

If you want to enforce such policy you will need a supported device to perform the job. A freeware will not get it done in this case.

If you can install it directly on the pc, use netlimiter. MacID is not required.

I'm using dhcp assigned by router. No fixed ip.

I'm thinking of using macid instead of ip address since ip address will be different each time.

So, in this case, does Netlimit works?

As I have said above, you can install the software on the selected pc and is not the router concern anymore.

Just have the 100mbps fibre up with starhub yesterday , am using a tp link tl-wdr4900n ( dual band n900 router) For 5ghz ,on my ipad 2, I can get around 40mbps download and for 2.4 Ghz, I can get around 30mbps.

But for my wife iPhone 4, I can get only 15mbps for 2.4Ghz... Is it normal? Any advice? Thanks

As mentioned before, using apple products to test it is inaccurate (google to get the reason). Get a normal PC to test it instead

I'm gonna use TP-Link for the 100mbs fibre broadband, and also homeplugs. Hopefully it will just work fine.

Anyway, just to check. Currently, I'm on the normal cable broadband. When Starhub comes today to install the modem to the tp, is it when the modem is connected to my router, it will work straightaway? Or do I still need to configure my router?
