I think the assumption that the big 3 throttled connection thus causing slow torrent downloading may not be entirely true. Yes it is throttled but there are people who subscribed to those 3 and yet have no problems getting high throughput. The same can be said about the other isps.

The nature of torrent itself can be affected by various factors namely router/utorrent settings and quality of the sources among them.

Just because you can't hit 1MB/s doesn't mean others can't

I think the whole throttling issue is already a cul-de-sac. Still got promoters from other colors say traffic light do it. When their own service can't even hit such high speeds. Why pay more for some other service that claims to be better yet could be worse off. I only trust my own experience and so far, nothing much that I can complain. Maybe YouTube has been slowing down for some reason but gaming, torrents have been great. I don't need 12.5MB/S for every file. If it hits, I'm fine. Doesn't hits, I'm fine too as long as I can manage about 3-4MB.

When I see people using the same ISP and service as I am maxing out their connections, I want to achieve that kind of speed too.

Mine too, sitting just beside router is 50mbps download, upload 30mbps. Inside my room drops to less than 20mbps for upload and download. Any chances we can exchange for a better router? We never get promised speeds

Are you using the latest Starhub router? The AC one. It might help you if you aren't already using it.

Else, get a third party router, preferably Wireless N900 and above, and request for direct ONT

The starhub dlink ac router is just a router right. Not the wireless gateway right.

That's right. Not a gateway, no special firmware, not locked to SH, any other router can also be used and this router can similarly be used anywhere else too.

Hi guys,

Anyone know if StarHub will be also giving us a free upgrade to 200Mbps just like what Singtel did for their customers?

direct ONT means bypassing the dvg5402sp router that is provided by StarHub.

I'm personally using the ASUS RT-N66U router, but N56U is sufficient. If you want to go for overkill though, you can get the latest AC68U router. It doesn't come cheap in Singapore.

I doubt so..it's been a long time since they have offered a free speedboost. The last speedboost that comes to my mind was when MaxOnline (except Ultimate) customers had their plan boosted by a few Mbps. This occurred back when I was still using MaxOnline Express about 4-5 years ago. After that, I switched to MaxOnline Premium. Didn't check about speedboosts after that.

For MaxInfinity though, I've been using MIF Ultimate for nearly 2 years and I have not experienced a speedboost thus far.
