Can SH 100/150/200 Mpbs users please post your speedtest result to China site? Want to do a comparison with M1's 100Mbps. Thanks you.

Here are M1 100Mbps results :

Probably some body here can help me on this. Am planning to get the SH 200Mbps plan.
I looked at the IDA reports on SH. It is little weird. The avg. peak ul/dl to US site for SH 200Mbps plan has lower throughput than the 150Mbps plans. Any thoughts ?

Also , any experience on using SH accessing / streaming from US sites through VPN ? Understand it depends on the VPN server but pl. share your experience if you have any.

Thanks for helping.

All i can say is to look at those reports with a pinch of salt. Real world usage shouldn't be too much a difference.

WHY?

1. Router restriction (Wireless speeds much lower than LAN)
2. 200mbps vs 100mbps is all for local data. Overseas speeds are most likely similar, with minimal significant speed bumps (yet you're paying $10-20 more per month).

I thought no more 150mbps plan? 100, 200, 300 only. All 3 major telco standardised now.

i am using sh 100mbps. are all fibre plan users for different providers experiencing the same issue? i am thinking of getting another provider like MR or viewquest and compare.. any thoughts? or advise?

hi my sipped test to international servers on speed test.net sucks. China - less than 2mbps, and I tested Hong Kong, Taiwan, UK, USA servers too, all ranging from 2-5mbps.. I complaint to them.. think I want to terminate the service.. angry! I thought maybe there is some issues with my notebook.. but anyway I will reformat my notebook..

let me give you a breakdown of what could have gone wrong, most the highest possibility to the lowest:

1) your technician cheat you cos SH is a retard company run by retards
2) your plug in is corrupted. re-install the plugin. remove it completely before re-installing. please google how to do so.
3) your anti-virus software is crippling your network. please post what your AV software is and check all the AV network settings.
4) your network card (ethernet and wifi) card is faulty (RMA the laptop if still under warranty)
5) SH is throttling your speeds based on MAC IP
6) you accidentally throttled your own speed in the router's settings page

that's all. I'd suggest a full refresh on your system (wipe the whole disk and re-install the OS) and try again. Make sure you download all the drivers needed on a external drive before refreshing. Do not install any thing other than the essential drivers: network, sound, graphics, USB.
DO NOT INSTALL ANY ANTI-VIRUS. install chrome and try again.

if the problem still persists, it's definitely hardware...

thanks for your detailed advise.. :)
I intent to reformat my notebook. I am using eset nod32 antivirus 6.. for my router settings i used the recommended settings posted here for the asus router.

also, u mentioned do not install any anti-virus. do u mean try the speed first before installing the AV? i thought most people here will install AV, coz of the sites we visit at least we can be protected if some malware infect our pc.. no?

I heard VQ is good, but pricing prohibitive to me.. anyway, before you jump to other providers, see if your friend/collegue/relative are already their customer and test at their home first !

AV companies use fear-mongering to cheat ppl to install useless anti-virus.

the best ones: avast, avg, MSE. i've personally preferred MSE for it's simple and light-weight usage.

anyways, if you know what you're doing, an AV becomes rather obsolete.

You get what you pay for. I switched to VQ and that became one of the best decisions of my life.

Overseas speeds are never fast on speedtest. It doesn't matter which Singapore ISP you are with.

it probably only affects theoretical speeds unless you're using 1gbps internet...

asus router range is always better. but since the dlink ac is free, i dont the extra $100-200 for a new router with only minimal improvement is justified...

on a side note, anyone knows what's the uplink and downlink speed of dlink 865l and asus ac66/n66?

I was planning to sell off the Dlink, what's the going rate nowadays?

1.05 - dated 19 June. no updates so far...

afaik dir 865l is not a popular model. other than SH users, no other ppl have this model...

actually not only starhub using, it's aka Amplifi Cloud Router 5700 in the US

I just wiped clean my notebook and the speed of SH 100 Mbps still doesn't improve. Although local speed can reach about 80-95Mbps, but the international speed tests on China, USA, Uk, sucks. I can't connect to the China servers like Beijing,Guangzhou,Shanghai servers at all. The test timed out! And connection to UK/USA servers only 2-5Mbps. These are all though direct connection to my router.

Anyone on SH fibre packages facing BAD connection to China, USA, UK servers?

These are the results I got for direct connection from my notebook to router-ONT. Local connection was fine at 85-95Mbps range.

Can't connect to China servers like Shenzhen,Beijing,Guangzhou,Shanghai, etc at all.

Connections to USA and UK servers sucks too.. (especially USA) :(

Anyone from SH fibre plans facing similar issues?

HWZers from M1 or MR or VQ care to share your results on these servers?

Thanks..
