Slow, slow, slow. What is this, the dark ages of the early 2000's?

Connection is seriously messed up. Good chances are it's upstream, don't tell me to go reset my downstream stuff.

Moi using Maxonline cable 100Mbps :( Same thing.

Is east side.

I called 1633 and got taichi'd to some back end networking department. It's weekend so I don't think there will be a reply...

You will be lucky to even get a callback with any useful reply.

Their modus operandi is to give you a callback 3 days later and ask for a traceroute, and if you have already done so, they will say their network engineer is checking on it. They will just repeat this cycle over and over again until you get fed up.

Latency is normal now. However there is obviously still an issue with the speed.

Same StarHub called me back yesterday say today will reply, no reoly yet.

They usually call back after 2 or 3 days. Just don't get your hopes too high, it will most likely be a useless callback by another CSO that seemingly knows nothing about the issue. I have enough encounters with their tech helpline to know, unless you persistently call in and threaten to escalate the issue, you will get nowhere.

Guess i have to call them tomorrow as well. Its happening every night. Strange that the issue only kicks in during peak hours. Used to have the intermittent disconnection issue, but now they are throwing up even more craps.

Yes. In fact in usual cases, it's still usable even in peak hours. But over the weekend or so it's been really terrible.

Now new issue potentially? :s22: DNS resolver got problem? I already swapped to Google DNS ages ago though. Seems like some sites need to refresh hard till you get to the webpage.

Similar issues here. For the last couple of days, latency was fine during the day. But during peak hours in the evening, pings just spike up. It was as high as 600ms to USA IPs. Mysteriously it goes back to normal after midnight.

Perhaps Starfug can't handle the traffic during peak hours? Or just simply overload? Both sounds equally bad.

CSO just told me network team just check no issue? Monitor and tomorrow they will call back :s22:

Anyway it isn't just starhub fibre/cable. Even Starhub mobile also has the same issue...

I just called in and as usual the CSO requested that i send in a tracert. I insisted to know why the latency spike up as much as 3 times during peak hours, her reply was "because of peak hours".

Ridiculous answer, if this is really the case she is saying we can forget about using the internet during peak hours, because 3 times the spike up is just horrendous. All the more everyone should just avoid them totally.

First time ever in this latest connectivity issue, yesterday lots of DNS resolving problems. Even Amazon took a lot of refreshes before it even goes to the page in like plain text HTML. Even google.com.sg wasn't spared.

I guess the CSO may just call back later on say there's no issue they know of...

I guess the fat green pipe burst even more after SITEX...

After this episode, I realised how much better M1 fibre was for my location. Termination point signal is good with a reliable huawei ONT. When the engineer came down to adjust the provisioning, it took only minutes ans they settled with something. Only experienced 1 outage. After that day it was fine. Besides that, just very short lived DNS issues once in a long time. Other than that, its just largely chinese sites that are throttled extremely which I can live with if the rest of the world is fine.

Starhub now can recontract 6mths before expiry. :s22: so people will hand itchy sign up for 1.5 another 1.5 year of service with this taichi type of customer support? After this episode I'm unsure if I can take this level of service any longer. I'll most probably bite the bullet and pull through these last 6 months.

I was in the same shoe and waited for the opportunity to jump to VQ

Network connection to overseas is extremely bad on sites with no CDN recently...even Malaysian sites also damn bad

Sent from Sony D5833 using GAGT

Finally, Starhub acknowledged today that they are aware of the problem and here's their reply on the Starhub Community Forum:

Re: Internet Connectivity problem

This lag has been around for a week, they should have acknowledged it long ago. Their whole technical support and network team is just plain crap.

Latency is up again tonight, poor connection all round. This is happening every night during peak hours.

600ms ping to USA is just unacceptable.

A week on and they have only acknowledged the problem, issue is still there.

If you guys are using the provided Dlink 868L, try master reset to factory defaults using the hard reset button. Re-setup everything.

I do it every single time when Starhub connection acts up. Works most of the time.
