Ordered. I wasn't able to replicate the 2x routers.. ah well. :D

Qn: My M1 plan expired and am on a monthly 500MBps plan, do I need to do anything on my end (to terminate etc.)?

New to Singapore and this forum has been helpful. I joined the forum specifically to say thanks for the link and that I was able to sign up using the ONT link. Although the process was slow to load between screens, I was able to get 5Gbps ONT without issue. It shows in the service contract atleast, so happy to have that noted.

I was also able to secure port activation and delivery/install earlier than what they mentioned in store.. weird..

Yes you need to terminate M1 after Starhub is up.

Even though you are without a contract with M1, you still need to inform them to terminate.

Updates as of 2 Oct.
TLDR: dont bother with Starhub, too troublesome and messy.

The appointment is 9-11am, took pto to stay at home for the installation. At 10.45 star trooper called to inform their car broke down and can only come much later.
After a few gentle words exchange, the new appointment is 4-6pm the same day.
Finally the guy arrived at 5+pm and bring the ONR with additional Nokia beacon.
I showed him the email with ONT wording, plus telling him the multiple confirmation calls with Starhub Sale/Tech for ONT installation.
The installation guy escalated to their team and will get back to me by the end of the day (nothing so far).
He also brought back the ONR and mentioned if just installing ONR today then wont be able to exchange to ONT later on.

So mess up? Contract write ONT but they bought ONT? Such simple mistake, after reading on their ultra speed installation with ONR and ONT indeed their installation service is going down hill.

They should have standardised it, just use ONT + Router or No router option for all plan, easy for everyone including their own installers.

I'm curious if the service agreement mentioned ONT in the devices section. If it doesn't then hubtrooper will assume it's ONR.

I do not think that will happen. Nokia XS-2426X-A ONR is the secret weapon why Starhub can offer S$29.55 special 5Gbps ONR offer to the users. It is the cheapest way to get the user started because it is 10G capable and it has wireless function. So the support from the Starhub side may be less. It is also better known by the Starhub employees.

You can of course argue that Starhub will have no issues with S$29.55 ONT option in that case. But the problem is that the special S$29.55 5Gbps ONT offer link accidently found out by @riverplatevn is a non-standard plan which most Starhub employees do not even know of.

I tend to think Starhub will have to honor the offer in this case. But they may well remove the ONT link soon...

Just look at the two offers and you may well think the ONT offer is a fake offer whereas the ONR offer is real...

Better place the ONT order now while it is on. :)
not worth the hit to your blood pressure when you have to fight them to honour their own words. 🤣

let the market mature first, i believe eventually we'll start to see ONT plans for 3 and 5Gbps plans.

not at this price tho

besides, that starhub guy went back to get ONT instead of ONR so they are honouring??
Ya he burned 1 day of leave and stayed home the entire day. And it's still not clear whether they will bring the proper equipment on the next appointment or is he being taken for a ride 🤣

Time is expensive

I think eventually SH will stop the 2Gbps plan, and introduce 2.5Gbps or 3Gbps as base plan and also market current as mid-tier 5Gbps and High tier 10Gbps plan. Finger crossed all come with ONT by default in 2025 as now their sales contract and installation is a mess.

I agree that Starhub will go for all XGS-PON based plans soon (no more 1Gbps and 2Gbps plan).

Whether they will have the 3Gbps plan is another story. As we can already see that they can provide S$29.55 per month 5Gbps plan so it may not make sense to have a lower cost 3Gbps plan. It is tough for M1/ST/SH to have plans below S$29 per month. That seems to be the territory for WC 2.5Gbps plan only. Take note SIMBA 10Gbps plan is at S$29.99 per 30days and WC 10Gbps plan is at S$29.99 per month.

As for ONR/ONT, that may be a tough question for lower cost plan. Starhub may have to entertain both average customer (do not mind ONR, just want to have low cost, so Nokia XS-2426X-A is good for them) and power users want to use ONT plus their own router.

Unlike VQ/MR/WC/SIMBA which have no-frills plan, traditionally ST/SH/M1 do not provide no-frills plan. Starhub is already kind of breaking the tradition to let users change from Nokia ONR to ONT --> but this will lead to confusions of their installers and sales person.

Thanks xiaofan, will take note to do so after device installation date.

Nothing related to ONT in equioment section.. The only thing it shows regarding equipment is:
New Equipment Name, Model No, Price: 61-Beacon_2_Nokia_Mesh_Router

Does that reveal anything?
