So can i say that, assuming selling of sti etf is lesser than buying, the dividend per share may be higher in the long run? Cos these 2 etfs are widely bought by people using rsp...

i guess the capital appreciation should be higher.. since anything that is not paid out is kept within the trust either as cash or underlying company shares. It in the issuer/trust/investor interest though to make sure there is not too much excess cash lying around in the trust as this might lead to higher tracking error of the fund compared to the sti index.

the manager has its discretion on how much dividend to be paid out every 6 months so need to manage the cash component properly. End of the day it is a distributing fund and probably they also know that some investors place more emphasis on the payout rate too.

I am not a fund manager haha so pardon me if there is any error in this assumption. Just some logical thoughtsz

SINGAPORE, 02 February 2021— State Street Global Advisors Singapore Limited, manager of the SPDR® Straits Times Index ETF (the “Fund”), today announced the Fund’s dividend distribution of S$0.04 per unit.
This dividend distribution* is currently estimated to be comprised S$0.028 per unit made out of “Singapore one-tier dividend and other exempt income”, S$0.005 per unit made out of “income taxable at Trustee level” and S$0.007 per unit made out of “other income”.

Thanks! No worries! I'm just trying to understand and happy that here can hear different thoughts and reasoning. :)

Ex date 9 feb
Rec 10 feb

So buy on 10 can get divi? Or need buy on 9? Or must buy on 8?

Then sell on which date 8,9 or 10 can still get divi?

Ok thanks. Then sell?

after you bought before 8th 5pm, then you entitled to div.

The next day the share price may drop.
If drop more than 4cents, plus commission ,sell will lose money :D. But is up to you. Usually will hold on to it

did about 1.5years to date, about 8.7% now. think its good for diversification + steady 3-4% div. should not expect too much and should not compare with high growth stocks or anything from the us market.

DCA-ing monthly for the past six years. it is paper loss for me unfortunately. those who started 4-5 years ago were buying at around $3.2-3.4.

however, dividend yield is around 3-4%.

STI better not DCA. Buy lump sum during crisis like Covid @ $2.50 when everyone sells. Vested as long as below $3 as my TP.
DCA good for US ETF. My opinion. Dyodd.
