SandForce Random BSOD Firmware Bug Identified, Fixed

OCZ is pleased to announce that the cause of a BSOD issue experienced by some SF-2000-based drive owners has been identified by OCZ and SandForce. A new firmware update which directly addresses this BSOD occurrence related to SF-2000 based SSDs is available here. All newly manufactured OCZ SF-2000 based SSDs will feature the new 2.15 firmware revision (which is based on SandForce firmware version 3.3.2.) We highly recommend that any customers that have experienced the BSOD issue update their firmware to 2.15.

We sincerely appreciate the support from our customers, and if any customers have any questions or require additional support please do not hesitate to contact a customer service representative and we will be happy to address any questions or concerns.

Sounds like good news. Let's hope the new firmware really fixes the random BSOD issues. There's also the issue of the drives not being detected of I'm not wrong. Wonder if there's a fix for that.

Is my pc ready for SSD

Need advice :s11:

Current pc is as follows:
AMD 64 X2 Dual 4200+
2GB RAM
ta690g biostar mobo
Win XP

Used pc mainly for office, work and surfing net.

Current pc has the random boot problem so I'm considering changing hard disk, was thinking of getting a OCZ 60GB as a boot disk. Get the best of both world, faster performance and a new hard disk.

Though I'm not sure if my current configuration can handle an SSD.

Best to have Windows 7 with SSD, as WinXP does not natively support TRIM. Besides, do try to perform a clean install of WinXP on your system and see if the random boot problems go away. If they don't, it could be due to a hardware problem, which you would want to figure out first.

Tried clean install n faced the same problem. See online it's usually ram or hd. Tt is why I'm thinking of getting a ram n ssd. Upgrade n same time hopefully fix problem.

random boot because you bought a lousy power supply and now it has damaged the motherboard and other hardware.

Use memtest+ to test your RAM first then.
