I'm kinda new to SSD, can anyone tell me which one I should go for if I have a SATA III mobo? The Intel 320 (G3) or 510? Mainly just for OS and gaming...:s12:

To be honest, there is no way installing those apps will result in more than 80GB used. :) Compared to games, application sizes are still very small.

If Intel SSDs are your only choices, then do note that the 320 should not require a Sata 3 connection to maximise it's throughput, while the 510 does. This is based on initial previews of 320, and confirmed reviews of 510.

In any case, Sata 3 has been around a bit, no reason not to upgrade to a Sata 3 connection! Budget permitting of course. :D

Guys is the pci one from ocz better or a sata 3 ssd?

I know ocz has a bad rep for their business practcies.

can i chk with u guys, is the reason the benchmarks focus so much on the 4kb random read because of the fact that our drives are normally formatted at 4096 bytes for allocation unit size?

from the benchies the 320 does quite poorly compared to the competition... does it mean if i make the allocation size bigger then the performance will be much better?

i dun think making it bigger will make the performance better. probably windows itself is optimised to run on 4096bytes... anyway from the review it would seems that intel for the budget conscious and crucial for the geeks

abit disappointed w the Intel G3 man
hope Intel can sell it much cheaper than the current SF-1200 SSD like vertex 2 =:p

if 1 cell died in the ssd would it mean the whole ssd dies? cos thats wad i read somewhere about wear levelling. so that means an ssd has to move its data around every now and then to use all the cells and make them all reach its expected usage at around the same time right?

is that right?
