maximum sleep i can get now is 3 hours, even after exercising/jogging.

the last time couple of times i had insomnia, i solve it by stopping all intakes of vitamins for couple of weeks. (mayb u guys can try this if desperate)

problem now this method suddenly stopped working for me.

Its hard to find a solution for such things because there can be several causes but I would like to add in that having technology around overstimulates the brain.
Also if people exercise in the morning, like their jobs, have moderate levels to low levels of stress from work, good relationships, they usually sleep well.
I like my job, get fulfillment from it but some areas in my life right now don't make me a peace so I have noticed the quality of sleep as diminished.

Sorry lol - not pillow - magnesium PILL! Haha
I was thinking what the hell is magnesium pillow... :s13: :s13:

I have been taking chelated magnesium supplement for quite awhile already.. it helps relieve muscle tension and leg cramps in the middle of the night.. but doesn't really help in inducing or maintaining sleep for me..

for those who intend to supplement magnesium intake, read up before purchasing them.. there are many forms of magnesium supplements out there and most of them are poorly absorbed by our body.

the one I'm taking personally is magnesium glycinate lysinate chelate form. I think it's good to supplement magnesium since studies have shown that magnesium is one of the most important mineral that most people are deficient in. other than magnesium, I also take 1-2g of fish oils on a daily basis..

The best way to take magnesium is magnesium oil.
Magnesium is a very aggressive element. For example, if you rub your eyes or mucosas while your hands have some magnesium oil on it, it will burn.
That’s the reason why magnesium intake can produce diarrhea of nausea. The gastrointestinal tract protects himself against such an aggressive element.
Of course, as a consequence, the absorbtion rate is very low. You take 300mg in, you absorb 10% of it. Very low bioavailability.
That's why they advise to take not one big dose but several little doses of magnesium during the day.
If I decide to take magnesium orally, then no pills but a concentrate of partirularly magnesium rich herbals and vegetables. I tastes funny...

But much better - faster, higher absorbtion rate, no side effects - the transdermal way of magnesium intake, through the skin, as spray, but even better as a bath.
In the water you can put some bicarb, so it will be not only a magnesium bath but also an alkaline one.

If the problem is insomnia: take a bath before you go to sleep. 30-45 min.
Bathing relaxes by itself, plus you get the nerves calming magnesium. (Plus, if alkaline bath, you neutralize your body's acidity).

After all the good tips in this thread, a couple from me
a) go to bed early. I can't sleep well if I know that I must fell asleep quickly because in 6 hours I must wake up.
I go early, who cares if I don't fell asleep quickly, of if I wake up in the night.
There is time anyway.

b) No videos or internet before going to sleep. They excite the eyes and the nerve system.
Music, for me, has an exciting impact too, so, for me, no music ether.
Read some roman or the like. Adventures. No horror, thriller or stories drenched with negative emotions.
No news, nothing demanding.
Preferably something funny, or adventures.
I have a collection of good jockes, picked up on the internet, over 50 pages, just in case :)

am suffering from insomnia/bad sleep for a couple of years now too.. will go to bed around 11plus at night - if i'm lucky I'll fall asleep after a while on the bed (and sometimes wake up suddenly to go toilet or just before my alarm rings), if not sometimes toss and turn around but jiu shi can't fall asleep kind, and the worse is almost the whole night will not be able to fall asleep till like 3/4am. and i've to wake up at 7plus for work.

seen a doctor at a certain govt hospital cos I got referred from a GP near my home, but obviously, sleep disorders aren't very easy to diagnose and he simply asked very superficial questions and whether I was suicidal or not. He prescribed me with atarax 25mg. It used to be effective for me for awhile, but think my body got used to it, and for a moment of time, I was taking 2 - 3 pills a night just so that I can fall asleep.

finally, I decided that enough was enough and I went to a specialist clinic at farrer park medical centre a month ago. this time round, she was more specialised and sort of managed to help me find out the root cause of my insomnia/sleeping disorder. she prescribed me with vitango to relax my body and mild sleeping pills. hopefully this works?

note: i've tried all sorts of methods already - warm baths before bed, no exercise 2 hours before bed time, drinking warm milk, listening to calm music, no electronic devices before bed/near the bed, dark room, on aircon.

just want to share my experience for the public and see if anyone else has the same problem as me too.

My tips to beat insomnia: :)

Keep regular sleep hours. Going to bed and getting up at roughly the same time every day will programme your body to sleep better. ...
Create a restful sleeping environment. ...
Make sure your bed is comfortable. ...
Exercise regularly. ...
Cut down on caffeine. ...
Don't over-indulge. ...
Don't smoke. ...
Try to relax before going to bed.

Hi there,

I still have issue with insomnia.
There are days where I will wake up as early as 530am and end up with a migraine headache for the rest of the day.

how i beat my insomnia,

exercise till tired before dinner
stop taking any kinds of pills/vitamins 12 hours before bed.

i managed to sleep after a few days of "washing" out the vitamins from body.
some of the "healthy" pills/vitamins must have caused my insomnia last time.

Insomnia without stress can be solved by strict dieting and inducing tiredness, like working out and then sleeping in aircon environment

Repair your sleep cycle, dedicate yourself to it and it will be alright

I drink a little whisky every night - helps with my insomnia. Stressing here though that’s it’s a LITTLE.

I don’t condone drinking Everyday also - but if it helps you sleep well then maybe it’s better than taking sleeping meds
